Our club is looking for a new insurance carrier. We have reviewed the EDGE insurance but were looking for alternatives. Does anyone have information or contacts for reasonable insurance carriers?

Why does a group of tractor lovers need with insurance you dont charge money or have corp sponsors your personal property is covered by each member there is no legal group so insurance for what.

Our club was faced with the same dilema a few years ago. We were dealing with a local agent for probably 15 years. Then we heard about EDGE and for one year we went with them in addition to our regular carrier. What we found out about EDGE was that there were too many stipulations such as 100% of the club members had to be sign up for EDGE, the name EDGE had to appear in our incorporation title and several more stipulations which I won't go into here. Another thing that we didn't like is the fact that when we called the EDGE representative and asked a question, we never got a straight answer. It was always, "probably" or "I think". Anyway, after the first year, we dropped EDGE and went shopping around locally. We were able to find a local agent who saved us over $400.00 a year for the same coverage that the local company we had been dealing with for the past 15 years was charging us. We found that it pays to shop aroud and also it pays to compare pricing whenever your policy comes due.

If that group puts on an event and somebody gets hurt who do you think that they are going to come back at to pay for the injury?

Lawyers, that's why. I belong to a small antique tractor pulling club and we have to have insurance. If anyone was hurt even if it wasn't the clubs fault the lawyers would sue everyone they could find. From the owner of the property where the pull is held all the way up to members of the club. It happened several years ago to a pulling club in CA. Someone walked behind the sled and was run over. His lawyers sued the owners of the land, the sled owner, the sled operator, the club and all members of the clubs board of directors. This was a non-profit club by the way. Even a small collectors club would end up the same way if some stupid person did one stupid thing.... I have seen personally how lawyers think and it is scary.

Most farm and home owner policy on cover "normal" usage. A antique tractor club , pull or any other "event" is not covered under the majority of the standard policies.

I have really given some though of doing a plow day or even a weekend. The insurance cost stopped my plans. I am not inviting the public on my property without full insurance coverage. I am too old to lose everything.

Lawyers are one of many reasons why Michigan drivers cannot get rid of catastrophic claims on their automobile insurance. Highest rates in the nation....

Speaking from experience about insurance for tractor clubs. When it comes to liability insurance most companies only cover non members at a tractor show. If a member gets hurt and this happens you know, they are not covered. This does not make sense but believe me all clubs should check with their insurance carries to find out about this coverage.
