Fence tool ? Anyone know what this is?

Hello, I have a friend who owns about 30 or 40 acres in a small town area of church hill Tennessee,
He does a lot of fence work around the farm there with this tool --- now I Do not know what it is really used for and was hoping someone out there could or maybe did or has etc. used one of these tools?
He said his uncle had a job working fence out west in early days when they hire hands to ride fence for months at a time to fix busted runs he used this tool but we never really was told what it was or how was used ?anyone out there have any idea (?)

It is a fence wire twister tool. It is used to finish the wire ends. You can use it in several ways to twist the fence wire. The picture is of a "newer" version of the tool you pictured.

Good deal !!! We use it now many times to wrap up sections in the field that have busted in the middle works great . Thanks for the reply !

I never could make that neat of a knot with 200,000# wire. After the first roll of that I bought I now always use 170,000 #. Much easier to bend and handle.

Dad (or Grandpa) bought the cut and formed wires to fasten fence wire to "T" posts. That tool is what we used to turn the loose end. The other end had a hook that you put over the first side of the post. I figure I was about 12 and could use it.

Yeah thanks for the great replys ! I didn't know much about them I was always use to the old pliers and bucket type stuff growing up /: very cool piece though.
