I am lost. I bought a 3000 ford tractor believe its a 65. had to have the motor reworked because everything was stove up and horrible. I thought it had the 175 in it but the guy told me it had the 192 ci 3 cyl diesel. I am trying to find the parts for it light complete gaskets set with head gasket, rear seal, oil pump, and all the other lil parts. Everytime I try to find a kit it shows me the 175 or the 192 gas. I have come to figure it was a 3000 with the industrial 192 diesel in it, but i can find specific parts for it. Could I just the complete gasket set for the 192 gas and it work or do i buy the 175 diesel set and buy a 192 head gasket. I am so lost. Is the block the same size as the 175 but with different stroke and bore. Can someone please help. I cant for sure figure out if I have the year model right either. I found the identification plate the the numbers on the frame but couldn't find the serial numbers

Tractor # A282458
MODEL# C10 13P
UNIT# 5P16B
ENGINE# 5P04C
TRANSMISSION# 5P1IC
REAR AXLE#5P12B

Help if you can please

There should be 3 numbers on the top right side of trans housing ear.
Top number Model code C1013P
2nd number Production code 5P04C
3rd serial number should begin with a Cxxxxxx

1965: C100000
1966: C124200
1967: C161300
1968: C190200
1969: C226000
1970: C257600
1971: C292100
1972: C327200
1973: C367300
1974: C405200
1975: C450700

Being as this is a Antwerp built unit I would tear down and find out just what it is. The Europeon models do not number same as US built units.

The only other numbers I found were the two on the back of the rearend and C5NN7006 on the chassis just behind where the clutch pedal is. Is that anything important

Not sure if this will help

If I recall correctly Ford made a few versions of the 4000. Pre 1965 it was similar to the 800 series with a 4 cylinder engine. 1965 and later there was two versions, one was basically a 5000 with a smaller 3 cylinder engine (Heavy duty rear axle), the other was a 3000 with an oversized engine (lighter duty). I believe one of these was called the 4000 SU but the diesel versions used a 201 cid engine, Gas or propane used the 192 cid.

engine size Bore Stroke
175 4.2 4.2
192 4.4 4.2
201 4.4 4.4

The head gaskets are going to be different between the 175 and 192.

Do some more looking on this site on the Ford forum.....ether do a search or reask the question, but I am sure the tractor numbers and how to use them for identification have been explained on there before.

Drop down to the Ford forum. There are some guys there that have a tremendous amount of knowledge. The helped me with my 4630 and were spot on with their help. I have had good luck with Steven's tractor and equipment in Coushatta, La. They have aftermarket parts and good service.

Will do, thanks

65 to early 68, steel grill 4000 had the 202 engine and block was same for gas or diesel. late 68 up had the 192 engine and I think gas and diesel were both same block. The 4000 SU was the low row crop utility with 28" wheels, the 4100 was the tall row crop utility with 38" wheels, the row crop was the 4200 with platform above tranny for feet with 38" wheels. The 4000 covered all versions. I had both a 65 and late 68 4100 in gas. Now the 65 all tags said it was a diesel but I found out that base engine was the same for gas or diesel so mine was converted over at one time from diesel to gas. I don't know anything about the 3000 except they are very scarce in my area. Only maby ever seen a couple of them.

The 3000 used the 175 diesel engine throughout it's production run. If it has something else, it's not from the 3000. If it has a 192
diesel it's not from that generation, PERIOD. The 192 diesel did not develop until the early 80's. So............... if you have reason to
believe that you do have a 192 you best find out what it really is.

What I would suggest is that you get the casting numbers off the right lower side of the block which are probably going to be something
like E5NN-xxxx-xx. That will just roughly confirm that it is an 80's period engine if it is a 192. Most importantly, get the engine model
and serial numbers which are stamped into the oil pan rail. It will probably be on the right side but check both sides just in case. You
can also get the engine unit date code which is stamped into the side of the upper right front mounting ear on the block near the injection
pump. This should correspond to the 'engine' number that you provided off of the information tag. If it doesn't then you have a dead
giveaway that the engine has been changed.
Anyhow, collect the information above and we'll figure out what it is.

It is entirely conceivable that the original engine went porus at some point and was replaced with a BSD engine.... and could easily have
been a 192 at the time. However, it is important to find out what engine you have before ordering parts as the gasket sets, manifolds, head
bolts and rear seals are/could be different depending on what you have. Later engine with the stepped stu block use a different main
bearing cap, seal retainer, seal, etc.
