Im lookin to aerate my pastures this year and i want something big that will do a good job. I have a 6 foot plugger like for a golf course but it takes for ever on 100 acreas so i want something bigger. What do you guys recommend?

AerWay aerators are common in some places. They are just a rotor with flat blades that spike the ground. The make them is many sizes up to 20-30 footers.

Well not for big acreages but for our garden we have a resident population of echidnas

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echidna

Which do a fine job as they dig for ants but maybe a bit slow on acreage cover.

Or so I tell my wife, who mutters about somewhat uneven ground in the lawn.

But so far I don't have to do it.

A downside is any concreting under the house (which is on stumps) may vanish down an echidna burrow for a while.

Could you use a weighted down rotary hoe and pull it slower? I made a lawn aerator 4' wide with rotary hoe wheels from the scrap yard.

And if you look you can find some cheap. Bought one for a 1000 it was 12 foot older model and spikes were worn a inch to a inch and a half. Got 2k trading it in on a new round bale wagon. So 1k-2k might get a older model again.

Well at least I'm not the only one that uses a rotary hoe for lawn aerator. My friends and neighbors thought that I was nuts and ruined my yard the first time I did it but after a good rain the yard looks great.

My neighbor has a AerWay aerator and told me if I used it on my brome hayfield I would see a big improvement. Didn't see any improvement except made it a rough. Five years later its still rough. Told him not doing that anymore.

We used it on hay fields don't know if it really did any good. Depends on why you need to poke a hole in the ground. We thought maybe we were getting root bound.

Not sure on aerating, have used the same Aerway as picture by others, I have had limited to no success (sometimes allowing weed seeds to take root) I use this double drag pulled behind seeder, does great job thatching, breaking up manure piles/leveling gopher mounds. I also apply 15 lbs. perennial rye grass (seems to establish the best) or fertilizer. one pass.
