Since you are a committed Jersey man, would you know Bill & Joan Fletcher from Fisherville ? They have been very prominent Jersey breeders for many years with their daughter Julie and her husband continuing in their footsteps. To make this tractor related, Bill & Joan run Ford and Kubota tractors. The Fletchers are neighbours to our Fisherville farm, good people.

not highjack this post but you mentioned Fisherville
I grew up in Bimbrook
Worked farms in Blackheath
Grand parents moms side hada a small horse farm in Calidonia
Grand parents on dads side had a cottage on lake Erie at Featerstone point
and I once owned a house in Selkirk
Been all over that area and know a number of Fletchers from school and the community events but not directly
been a lot of yrs since I was down that way

Hi jimont . While the Flecther name is indeed familiar to me , I do not know these folks personally. Although I am , as you say committed to the Jersey breed , I do not show cows . And my involvement with the breed association is limited to registering cattle , and our local Jersey club. We have around a dozen all Jersey herds near me and many more mixed Jersey/Holstein herds as well. That doesn't mean Holstein x Jersey , but two breeds with in one herd. Component milk price is starting to show the black and white breeders that there is more $$$ in milking cows with higher components, like the Jersey cow has. Good to hear that this family has the next generation lined up to take over the farm. Ford/NH and Kubota tractors are very popular on Dairy farms , as they build utility tractors in the 100 hp range that dairy men need, and at a price they can afford. Regards , Bruce

Small world eh! The Fletchers came to Fisherville from the Binbrook area in the late 60's and are still very active farmers although not milking (just young stock for their daughter).
The Fisherville / Selkirk area is a pretty tight community coming from Pennsylvania Dutch stock folks. We have a farm just south of Fisherville and the home farm near Jarvis. The two youngest sons will be 5th generation on each farm and are raising sheep and some beef for their meat business "Cornerbrook Farms"
