I'm sure some of you must have had a tractor you wanted and couldn't get, I wanted the ford with the canopy from a farm that went out of business they wouldn't sell it, I wanted the ford with the with the bucket loader from the farm on my now but couldn't get that one, they ended up selling me the 4610, last pic, Don't get me wrong the 4610 is a great tractor but I like those 4600s.
What tractor did you want and couldn't get?

4320 John Deere of my grandpas . International 4166 guy sold it for 500$ One Condition though the new owner has to dive it off the place I see it's still there might have to go see if it's still for sale or not

When I was 18 , I went to an auction sale. There was a Cockshutt 40 on the sale . I ran that tractor till my money ran out , $850.00 , tractor sold to the next bid , $875. . I was heart broke. Still wish Id of had a few more $$$ to bid ,love those tractors.

An old Fordson with Iron wheels, I was young and Dad said no way. He knew of people being killed by those thing flipping over.

We had a CASE dealership from 66-76,, two of my Fav tractors was a 770 and 1470, took me almost 40 years but I have a nice 770 and three 1470's today,, next on my list is a 680E loader backhoe although I do have a 420B and 580CK units here,,someday

a few years after we started here, maybe 1985?, there was a nice W6TA mccormick in a farm auction. i ran it to $1575, didn't have the $1600, and it sold. just a neat and scarce old tractor.

A 1972 4020 diesel that an old farmer had up the road from us. He had his retirement sale during the mid-1980's and I was beyond broke. I doubt that the tractor had 1500 hours on it at that point. He bought originally it because the 30 series were already out but this 4020 was left on the lot and this guy was tighter than tight with money. It was all about the cost for him.

There was a Ford 3600 that went pretty reasonably at a sale last year, didn't have enough cash to buy it.

I just don't have them YET. When I was a little guy,I wanted Dad to get a Ford 6000 or an Oliver 1800A Checkerboard. I'll have the 1800A yet one of these days. My uncle had a Fordson Dexta that I liked a lot too. I wouldn't turn one of those down if the price was right.
Dad and I had a chance to buy an old Fordson for $20 one time too. We were going to go halves on it,but he didn't know what we'd do with it when we got it home,so he told the guy no on it. I sure wish he'd have changed his mind on that one.

I, like many folks here, do not NEED another tractor. I am not seeking or looking for a tractor. Buttt if a certain Case model should become available I would be very tempted to bring it home. I did say I did not need another tractor didn't I? And will continue to tell myself, you don't need another tractor. So goes the battle in my mind of needs and wants. lol gobble

I have always wanted a Case DC or SC that was sold from the dealer in town. I knew two old timers that had tractors bought new in town.

The first one I tried to buy was a 1952 Case DC adjustable wide.
After ten years of trying to buy it. The owner gave in. Told me to bring gas and a battery and drive it home. I have him the money and we started to pull the tractor out. ThAt when we found out the brakes and valves were stuck. The owner then changed his mind and would not sell it to me.
The owner died about a year later. His step son had the iron man on speed dial. Everything was gone before the funeral.

The other tractor I REALLY WANTED was a 1954 Sc. It was the last tractor in stock and was never sold. When the dealer closed in 55. The SC wS parked in a barn belonging to the same dealer and left untouched in till 1984. A guy in town bought it and used it four about three years then left it sit.
I tried many times with no luck to buy it. The owner died in 2013. I was waiting for his estate sale. I found out too late his sons called the iron man and hauled off all 25 tractors for scrap.

My MIL has 4 D17s that my FIL had used as chore tractors. My son who had ridden on them with grandpa was small child then helped him feed with them as a not so small child asked me if I would buy one from her so he could restore it as a 4H project. She has their oldest son "farming" the home place with her tractors (and the new tractors she keeps buying at the advice of her "accountant" (I'm going to kick his arse someday)) and they are up to 11 tractors with one operator. I asked her how much she wanted for one of the old D17s and she commented that she needed them all and perhaps her neighbor had one that he might sell....

Boy now there is a power line up. Looks like two giant steam locomotives getting ready to "double head" a coal drag up the mountain.

A neighbor had two farmall 1206's. I knew he was going to retire, but he kept talking about having an auction. I sat back and figured I'd try and buy one at the auction. Fast forward a couple weeks, I told him my intentions of trying to buy one. He then told me a guy offered him good money for both and wasn't having an auction anymore. That guy kept the nicer one and sold the other at an auction myself and the previous owner were at. When the bidding went past 4500 he said"well, he made money on that". I was sick. Never did find out what he paid for the pair, but I'm guessing in the 10k range. Obviously the new owner won't sell the better one.

Also know where my grandpa's old oliver 77 orchard sits in a field. That guy won't sell it. Just rotting away.

A guy about 25 miles from my dad told him he had 4 tractors that he wanted to get rid of, just give them away. Dad said, well, we'll go look at them and see what they are, instead of just saying he wanted them. The guy said I have to get them out of here soon. Well, we went and looked at them, there was a Case 430? diesel, an Oliver 88 diesel, and I believe the other 2 were another Case and a MM. It has been so long ago I forget. All but one had decent tires and free engines. Well, dad's buddy that goes everywhere with him happened to mention this to another tractor guy and he hooked up his trailer and headed over there. The guy was real hard to catch at home and didn't want anybody taking the tractors when he wasn't there. This other guy got really lucky and he happened to be home and he loaded up all 4 and took them home. Dad called the guy and told him he wanted them a couple days after we looked at them, and he told dad that he figured he didn't want them and another guy had already came and got them. Dad's buddy was not real happy this other guy did that to him. All 3 that the engines were free ran with just a little work.

Well I don't have a photo of it but this is what it is and I still believe I will have first shot at it but just don't know when. It is a one owner 1960 JD 630. It has the new gen style fenders , full factory 3 pt , original square wide front and 100% original paint. All the original paper work and manual from original sale. All the patent #,s still on frame and legible. I just rebuilt the carb for it last fall. I'm so sure I'm going to get it that I'm seriously considering buying a nice 3 btm that goes with it that I've found for great price. It was delivered new to this farm , 15 mi from me, and has been there ever since. The perfect stable mate for my "B",I'll have one restored and one 100% original and one to pass on to my sons family and one for my daughter and family. I can go to my grave happy.

My Pap's 41 Farmall H. He sold it before I could ever drive it. It sat up the road with a guy for 6 years before he sold it again. I asked that guy a 100 times who he sold it to and never got an answer. I'd give anything to have that tractor back. Sentimental value I guess.

I would like to have my Dad's(and uncle's) '52 8n.When the farm was sold, the 340u got sold,my Dad kept the 300u,which I now have, and my uncle kept the 8n.My cousin and her husband now have it,but I don't think it gets used.I grew up driving it a lot,and it was the first tractor I sat on(my Mom has a pic of me at 8 months old on my Dad's lap). It has the Sherman hi-lo (step up/step down) auxiliary trans on it which is a great feature.I even have overhauled the engine and put a clutch in it.I have not seen it since 1989,but have kept up with it.Mark

Grandpa's 1940 Farmall M... Uncle inherited it and put a new rear end in it (common broken lower casing)... He ended up giving it away to someone hew knew a few years ago. Asked him why he didn't call me (I've been restoring tractors since I was about 12)... He said, "didn't know you were still into tractors". Last I heard it was taken to the Lake Region Pioneer Threshing Show in Dalton, MN. S/N 13639

A Gibson, saw it just after I bought my truck and didn't feel like spending more money just then. Should have, it wasn't in bad shape.

I was able to get my uncles John Deere 520 and 2520. I want dads 630 which is the second tractor I drove after the b. My cousin was going to sell it, but changed their mind. I still am number one in line though.

back in 1969, a local dealer had a 54'foot clutch DC CASE , he was asking 600..pop passed on it , then there was a 3020 deere diesel with all the bells and whistles about 1975...4500 was too durm much for Pop again ,,.went up in amish country in 1980 auction had a 730 jd diesel with pony motor in great running condition ,,i.stopped bidding at 4 grand,,another guy pikt up and bought it for 4600... there are probably lots of others,.. a car I did not get after the seller and I agreed on 600 bux selling price in 1972 ,,1966 RED chevy implala SS , white, interior buket seats, CONVERTIBLE top ,black dash and trim ,327 /4 barrel ,,. 2 speed powerglide ,. with spinner hubcaps all around...it ran great ,, but dad, said he did not want another vehicle cluttering up the drive to where we all had to go outside and play musical chairs to let someone out when it was very muddy ,,. and he would not have us parking in the grass ...
