Aftermarket Gears and Shafts

Anyone use aftermarket rear end gears and shafts?Rebuilding a 2840 JD rear,JD wants $165. a piece for a spider gear,need 4. Aftermarket is about $40. a piece.Hard to justify that extra money.Anyone use this stuff with success?

Not sure on the brand,but there on ebay,the internet,even for sale here on this website. JD part # is L29227 for the gears,L 29226 for the two shafts.

WOW must have a lot of problems with them if the aftermarket is handling them.

Never tried. When those spiders went bad in my 1020,I got good used out of the parts yard. They were still going when I got rid of it 30 years later.

We put in a set of A&I ring and pinion in a 1466 has been 3 or 4 years now with no problems. Pull it on chisel plow or field cultivator. Put a through shaft in for the TA replacement at that time from Bates corp. Don't know what brand that was.
