I have an 801 that has been running fine. I went to start it the other day and it would start up and cut off. I replaced the ignition switch because it was not showing current on 1 side .Still will not start. I did find a broken wire that was burnt out replaced this and still not starting not even firing now. When you turn the key off it makes a popping sound at coil. I removed coil wire and when turning key off fire is sparking from coil wire port to positive wire on coil. If you put a test light on the negative side with coil wire in position the neg side goes positive. I have electronic ignition on this tractor and it is converted to 12 volt. Any suggestions? I am leaning towards bad coil.

Try hot wiring it. Run a wire form the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil and see if it will run. If it does then the problem is from the coil back to the battery if it does not run then check and see if you have a good blue/white spark at the center wire on the cap and at all 4 plug wires. If you have a good spark then you know it has to be a fuel problem. If no spark a coil or electronic ignition is bad
