When we built our house, we went with 2 levels plus a full finished basement. 3 years later, I really messed up my knee at work and had surgery. I quickly decided we had too many stairs. Wish we built all on ground level. That was 26 years ago and we are still in it. When I start falling down stairs, I will get someone to move all my things to ground floor and close off the upstairs.

The highest step in our house is 3/4 of an inch with wide doors and hallway. I figured one of us would be in a wheel chair before we are forced to move. 14 years and it is almost paid off.

The main entrance door to my old farm house is at ground level. It was a blessing for my mother who was crippled by polio. It is still a blessing now that my dad can barely make it around with a walker and Marilyn's hip continues to get worse.
