OT Help me find something...

I need to lengthen my drain hose from the water softener at the farmhouse. I have the same drain hose at both houses but no idea where it came from. Hose is opaque plastic, 1/2" ID x 5/8" OD. It does not crush and will not sag, but is very flexible. So it can be run UP from the softener, thru the floor joists, and down to the drain. Can't use the softer tubing they sell at Lowes because it sags against whatever is supporting it and then the softener cannot push the water thru. Prefer not to use rigid. Just want what I have always used...just cannot find it. Not even sure what it is called. Any idears?

Sounds a lot like milk line tubing. Maybe a farm supply store would carry it. Our local hardware store has similar tubing in bulk rolls and several diameters, but we've got enough dairy business around the area it's apparently worth their while to carry it.

If you are running it through a wall and want something that will last forever I would use air brake hose, the kind used on big trucks.
Flexible, good for more pressure than you will ever put through it, water will not hurt it, easy to work with.
I have several hoses made up from the stuff that I have been using to run air tools, over 15 years old now and still as soft and flexible as the day I got them.
Only thing that will hurt it is hot welding slag.

I use 1/2 ID anhydrous ammonia line hose on my softener. Same as the hose that runs from the AA manifold to the knife.

Appreciate all the good leads! I'll Google a couple of those and see do they work. The old drains in the center of the basement have gotten too slow and are backing up so I have to run to the new perimeter drainage system...about 30'. At least I figured out where all the dampness was coming from!

Put a check valve in the port where it exits the softener or it will drain back some of the discharge. Jim

Been musing about that. When it is draining down it isn't a problem, but draining up???? I agree...good idea.

They use black poly for those. It is available at just about any hardware or similar store. Tygon won't work it is too flexible. Truck airline is poly so it would work but I have never seen it that large.
