I need a new cell phone .It does not need to be smart but it needs to be tough, as I work on in and around tractors and heavy equipment. and
it needs to be small to go in pants pocket. again it needs to go in pocket not on the belt I don't wear or anywhere else.

I used to have motorola razer very small not so tough. for the past 4 years I've had a samsung rugby tough but plenty big

the replacement is A kyocera duraxe looks tough but is too damn big! any ideas thanks Paul

I feel for you...in fact I went through with the razer and was very disappointed. I cracked the screen and had it fixed three times, final gave up and used a cheap little Samsung and then some Chinese phone called On Top. It was actually quite durable but the OS kept crashing. Kept using the little Samsung but the bat was bad and it was dead half the time.
I wanted a Rugby, but the my wife went out and got us a couple of IPhone 5s'. She picked up a defender series Otter Box and insurance on mine. I was pretty apprehensive. I have dropped it regularly, stepped on it, lost it in a cranberry field (no water),covered it dirt and oil...just wipe it off and clean my hands, its been just great.
I'm sure I will crack it one day and it will be done, but that's what insurance is for. Everything is backed up so the install was simple.

Good luck with whatever you do. Grant

My Brother and I have the Kyocera. They are tough but won't hold up when you leave them on the track of a 44,000 lb excavator even when they are new.

I will second the Samsung convoy, had one
for years that held up great. Only reason I
eventually upgraded to a Kyocera brigadeer
was that Facebook changed the ways you
could upload pictures which I often do for
my maple syrup business page so had to go
to smartphone. The Kyocera held up well,
after two years of flawless performance I
answered a text while changing the oil in
the final drive of my excavator, set it on
the track and then forgot and drove over
it, destroyed the screen yet still could
answer the phone! Not bad for a 4 ton
machine turning on it, I replaced it with
the same one again

look on Ebay. I had a flip phone I really liked and bought a identical one looking like new very cheap.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S111 (smartphone) like you I did not want to go there for the same reasons. Its in a Otter protector (lifetime warranted) I have broke two belt clips they replaced them. While waiting for the replacements I got use to tote'N it in my pants pocket. I don't need a smart phone other than the camera its awesome I call it my old mans magnifying glass. The camera is why I tote it for no other reasons it will be in my pocket are on a belt clip (I hate a smartphone )

I have found cracks on parts are defects along with part numbers
that I can see and read instantly, It has about eliminated a need for a pencil. Its technology I have had to force myself to learn to use to get the value out of it.

I can scan the vin bar code with a NAPA app it saves the info on my phone and with blue tooth it sends it to my puter. :D With the info I know most of what I need to know to order parts.
Its more than just a toy to keep your kids occupied.

I was trying to remember a few good uses that saved me a ell of allot of time. 1) I needed to order up fuel injectors for a Ford (1987 300 six it uses a zillion different injectors) No way I could read the part number with out taking them out I could barley see one injector on that plumbing nightmare, so for the ell of it I took a pix blew it up and got the number.

The best pix was a new oil filter that leaked the filter had a crack that I caught with my camera. No way I would have found the crack otherwise. A guy brought me a cylinder head last wee he was considered it had a crack I shot some pix no crack to be found are what looked like a crack was not.

Its a love hate affair I hate tote'N it I love what it can do...

One more thang

I know most of what I need to know to order parts.

I also have most of the info needed to write a invoice no running back and forth... If I am away from my puter I have it in my pocket :D

I too recommend a Samsung Convoy. I've been using (and abusing....) mine 2+ years.

I have had my Samsung Convoy for at least 8 years, a little scuffed but still works great. original battery yet. It has been thru a lot. does have a camera, but no flash.

I've got a LG flip phone from Verizon w/camera and it fits in a watch pocket, been fine for 3 or 4 years now. :)
