Anyone care to venture a price range that this could be in if selling? Runs and drives, but worked hard and put away wet. Many fixes in recent years, but still a long way to go to make it "look nice". On 2nd engine-235 cu inch, 4 speed tranny, 15 inch 6 ply front and 8 ply rear tires.

I own a 1951 GMC 3/4 with 270, 4speed and 17" wheels. It is not rusty and runs really well, very original. I place it at 3500. Yours I would place at 2000 if pretty straight but rusty, 2500 if minor rust. Should be 216 I think. Jim

for years, I would not sell my 58 chevy Viking C -60 ,,my great uncle bought it new at the 1958 Ky State Fair ,,but lately ,, I would accept 2500 if I knew it would get a good home ,..my cousin rebuilt the original 283 V-8,,.it has the easiest shifting 2 speed axle I have ever driven,. and will pad on down the road safely and comfortably loaded with 225 bu, at a easy 55 mph,and get 8 miles to the gallon,..

I bought a 1953 ton and a half chevy complete with working lime bed for $500 about 2 years ago. It took us about 30 minutes to get her running. We have spread about 50 tons of lime so far so it hasnt quite paid for itself. A good friend that tinkers with old chevys told me the 6 cylinder in it is a 261.

I have a motor for that truck of yours that was running when i took it out about 5 years ago. You have have it to get out of my way if you pay the shipping to get it to you has the transmission on it also. come out of a 51 chevrolet. I actually give the carb to a guy here on YT.

I have a 1947 (second series) 3/4 ton, that still has the original 235 in it. It belonged to my wife's Uncle (died in 1994). I plan on getting it in the shop this summer and begin the "tear down". Those old trucks aren't worth a mint - there are just too many around....

I have no need, but that is a sweet offer and a great engine. One of the torquiest, strongest structurally, reliable engines made. Do pass it to a needy truck. Jim

That truck should be a 216 engine and it came with 7:00 X 17" tires. If someone switched wheels without chainging rear ends it will be very slow with 15" wheels and they were slow to start with. I learned to drive on one like that and it was in family since it was 3 months old. Traded it off in 76 when the body was falling off and breaks were shot and could not get new drums. Still have orignal owners manual around someplace.

It came with 15 inch wheels. Shop Manual shows that it was available new that way. On the engine, this one is 235 cu in. I should have said the original engine, a 216 cu in, wore out and was replaced by a 235. Rear axle ratio is 4.57 and top highway speed is about 45 MPH. Didn't need speed on most farms where most trips were short, loaded, runs to grain elevators.

sms: how serious are you? I've got a project truck ('56 Chevy 3600--the heavy 3/4 ton) that I really need to get out of my garage, and I believe you're not too far from my neck of the woods (H2O-town-ish).

I am serious its just in my way. The next time the scrap man would come by i was going to just get rid of it. I can take picture of it and send it if you wold like to see it. Like i said the carb i give to a guy here on YT about a year ago. Cant remember the guys name. Its here at work in Charlotte North Carolina and your more than welcome to it

ditchwitch--I think we've got a wire crossed. I was talking to SMS who said he's looking for a truck and we're both in NY. Doubt if either of us is interested in yours, as it's a bit far away. I've got the same problem you do--it's taking up garage space.

If the condition and price are right I would be interested. I almost always fill in my email so you should be able to contact me. Warning, I often only have time on weekends to catch up on email but if you tell me I will look. Yes, I am close enough to make the trip no problem.

I sent you an e-mail. If you get it, you should have mine and we can talk further offline. I've got pictures and more details.
