Since it appears to be the doodad that helps keep the whaddayacallit in place I'd just weld it. Best I can do not knowing anything about it.

It looks to me like it's a swing arm on a four wheeler or something similar. There is some wear on it judging by it's relationship with the neighboring tube. If possible, clamp it shut with a Vise Grip and weld it up. I have a gut feeling the life of the vehicle it is on isn't going to be all that long anyway.

If it's an expensive piece and if it's not easily weldable, (cast iron?) try Lock n stitch. Very effective. I repaired the rear end housing on my New Holland probably 5 years ago and is still like new.

Exhaust bearings races and seals were all recently replaced buy a reputable shop 👹👹. Could be the blinker fluid needs flushed and a new filter installed but I'm a little skeptical about flushing the system as I've heard of guys having the blinkers go out soon after a flush

We'll give er a whirl . It's been cracked for awhile today it just cracked worse .... Probly directly related to working on Sunday

Chuck, I'm a big fan of lock-n-stitch stuff as well. Amazing how well it works. I did a 6" long crack on a diesel block in a water jacket. Ground it off, needle scaled it, painted it, can't even tell. It only took about half an hour, and I immediately filled it with coolant and put it back to work.

Stupidity. I hooked up a brush hog and forgot to remove the swinging draw bar. The blade hit the draw bar and cracked the housing. I had the tractor about a month. Made me sick.

Ok, I ammend my smart aleck remark. It's the hoist on the grain truck? I'd do more than weld that. I'd weld it good and then grind it down. I'd find some pipe with an ID that would fit that. I would cut that pipe into two inch donuts and then cut those in half along their length. I'd put a half over that side of the tube and weld the devil out of it to collar it and reinforce it.

You can buy running gears with scissor lifts on them pretty cheap around here. I would buy one and rob those pieces off of it. I weld A LOT of stuff around the farm that never gives me any trouble. This one scares me though. Maybe it's the fact that it is raising hundreds of bushels up in the air. With things like that I kind of think there must be weakness in that metal from the start or it was under engineered. I don't trust it. I can see it busting, the falling box ramming it through the back of the cab and skewering you while the gas from the seat tank runs onto the hot exhaust causing the elevator to erupt in a massive fireball leveling the town of 3500. Like I said, I don't trust it.

Lock N stitch is fine and dandy for those cracks with compression or fluid on one side, and with two ends in metal. This crack is under tension and is structural it would be as effective as duct tape. I agree with a deep 7018 or 7024 weld and a welded strap around each side and one in the middle. I would probably do the same strapping on the other side. Jim

Yes with my luck that's just what will happen to 👹👹👹 I've got a welder coming to look at it I don't think I trust my farmer welds on This one

I can't see enough or have enough info to give good advice on this. What is it and how did it break? A pic that shows more of what it is would help. Looks like a truck hoist to me, did it rust and seize?
