Case IH 5220 Power shift problems

Been working on this tractor for quite some time now. The tractor will run in every gear but only in the first range on the power shift. When trying to go to the other ranges on the power shift the tractor just stays in neutral. Has a brand new computer board and range selector installed. Im getting 12V to the computer from all the gears, but for some reason it wont send the 12V back to get it to go into 2nd 3rd or 4th range. Checked the pressure on the solenoids and they are all getting pressure out of the transmission so i dont think its a clutch problem. Heres the deal, i can get the ranges to work and it will switch, but i have to run a hot wire from the battery and jump the wire on the harness for each individual gear to change into the correct range. Stuumped on this and anything will help.

I bought a 5230 a few years back, only because I know someone who knows those tractors. We replaced the power shift module also. There was a bad pin in one of the multi pin connectors in the cab floor under the console. I believe it was a ground. (brown wire) Apparently that was common. Something about the battery ground getting bad, and the system trying to ground through a little wire?
Best of luck.

Oh the joys of all the electronics on these, not! I've had the opposite trouble with our 5240 of dropping out of a PS range and stop moving. It wound up being the trouble some pressure solenoids. I have also had a few different 3pt issues to work thru. Our local dealer is very good but there weren't hardly any Maxxums sold here so they aren't able to help much other than looking up service bulletins and bouncing ideas off of each other on things to check and look at. A good ground connection and cable is very important on these as well. Is it flashing a code at you? Do you have the factory service manual or access to one to go thru the trouble shooting & testing section and tracing out wires. Sorry I can not be of much help but I totally understand how you feel.

Forgot to mention, if you go to the Redpower forum website there is a CIH tech that is very good on the Maxxums too.

Your pressure switch for the first gear is bad. I had a 5230 and when a pressure sensor went bad the only gear that would work was the one with the bad sensor. When you go to shift to another gear your computer thinks 1st is still engaged because of the bad sensor and it goes to neutral to protect the transmission.
