slightly OT- headrests

My new boss has a newer dodge truck and an 11 super duty. What is with the headrests? I have to just about lay down in them due to the be headrests tipping so far forward. If I'm sitting upright, my head is tilted down, and every little bump I hit, I get slapped in the back of the head.

If they were my trucks the sawzall would have come out by the end of day 1.

mine seem to be able to have been moved all the way up but I can't get them lowed.

YEP - I took mine off to clear my Stetson's brim and then, a week or so later, took a LONG road trip. Well, after driving all night and most of the day before I needed some shuteye. I pulled off the road and found a parking lot that had some dark spots, set the idle up to 1100rpm, turned the heat way down and laid the seat back ...... OOOOPS! Forgot to put the head rest back in the truck! It was a longer trip than I had planned ...... not being able to snooze once in awhile! BUT other than that they are a PITA!

Our 2012 Enclave is like that, but my 2013 Silverado isn't. I use to take one out when I would drive it, but now I just take it out and turn it around.

know what you mean, son has a 12 super duty took the head rest out very un comtrable [seats are hard also], pulls my goose neck good.wife has a 13 Silverado seats are fine and head rest are adjusted to us and are fine pulls our 26' camper just fine and a lot nicer to ride in. know nothing about a dodge will never own one

My '14 Silverado was like that, head rest hitting me in the back of the head, very uncomfortable. Got to looking, the driver side was thicker and tilted more forward than the passenger. Not sure if that is how it came, bought it used.

I switched the driver side for the passenger, turned the driver side around and put it on the passenger side. I need to find another thin one for the passenger side, it's pretty much useless as it is, and could go flying in an accident.

The head rest position has something to do with safety regulations. The newer vehicles are all further forward than they used to be, some just didn't get it right.

I dont remember the exact year, maybe 2008 or so, head rests are more up-right to minimize whip lash in a frontal crash.

You might try pulling them all the way forward if it's like my 2012 F-150. When you pull them all the way forward they release and go all the way back. Then as you pull them forward there are several positions where they will stay - as far forward or back as you like.

2011 Silverado I got so mad at the headrest I used the pipewrench on it. Gave the rods the rest mounts on a bit of a bend back. Worked so good the wife said to do it to the passenger side too. Headrest won't go down now but none of us care about that.

Crash regulations.... brilliant!

I'm more likely to be in a crash being sick if I drive it more than 10 minutes at a time and getting beat in the head at every break in the pavement!

I'm 6 foot with my height above the hip so it's probably more an issue for me than most others.

2012 Silverado 4 door crew cab. The front seat headrests will interchange with the rear seat headrests. Much better!!
