Case 400 diesel main bearings

Does the grooved main bearing go on top of the crankshaft and the smooth bearing go on the bottom? This is on the 401 diesel round nose.

Not seeing them it sounds right to me. It would supply the rods with oil for 1/2 turn. It also supports the crank a little better on the bottom.

Actually assuming the two halves are different make SURE the hole in the bearing lines up with the oil hole in the block. A lot sets I see are the same top and bottom and I assume that make them 'idiot' proof or cheaper to make.

RT (my two cents.)
