I have a step up/drop down transmission, I believe. But I have only found three different types and none of them look like what I have. Sherman, Hupp and a F&T overdrive. I have the shift lever on the right just above where the clutch goes into the side of the transmission. It may be a later model that does not belong on the tractor but I dont know enough about them to know. This tractor, by engine ser# was built in 1944.

Looks just like a Sherman Step-up. It should only have three positions, forward on leaver is standard drive, back to driver in center position is neutral, and on back is overdrive.

Yes it doe only have three positions. And I hope you are correct. I have been looking through the manuals and it shows a different lever ( which could be changed) and the lever coming out of the right side not the left. That is why I am unsure. But thanks to you MO & Bob for the reply.
