The best way to ensure correct mixture between cylinders is the look at the EGT on each cylinder at the same time. I found this setup when I was looking at a way to get the EGT's into my EFI ECM. The board they used to interface is the same one as I am using on the electronic governor.

When I was having trouble with a 20 HP Kohler, one cylinder was running 200 degrees colder. Had burn valves on colder cylinder.
