Here Jerry is talking about Deer hunting and other stuff. Just good clean fun. I miss his type of humor. Just a county buy talking about his life. Not made up stuff like the modern one do. Larry the Cable guy is funny but it all is an act. Jerry funny is more fables based on real people he grew up with. Just seems funnier to me.
 
They used to play him on the radio a lot back in the 70's. That's another thing that's gone down the toilet in todays world. Lack of variety on the radio. No DJs playing what folks might want to hear,just a computer that's programmed to play whatever's at the top of the charts.
 
The other comedians like Foxworthy showed pictures of Larry the Cable guy when young and he was a long haired little hippy kid.
 
I met Jerry in person in '75. He was a speaker at the National FFA convention at KC Mo.Neat guy.
 
I saw him speak at the '75 FFA convention, he was entertaining at a local fair the next summer but I didn't go. I understand he did so much more that the show at the fair, went out an meet people and wandered around the fair taking in the whole fair experience and being himself.
 
I introduced my son to his humor at the age of ten. He didn't get it at first but after listening a couple times he got jest of it. I even call him Nugene on certain occasions.
 
Actually, he was a seed and fertilizer salesman. He used his family stories to sell seed and fertilizer and his career just kinda took on a life of it's own.
 
I love listening to Jerry, as someone told me., "Jerry didn't tell good stories, he told stories good" I remember when Jerry was just getting started, He was a salesman for Mississippi Chemical Co. He spoke to our coop annual meeting a couple of times.
Good clean fun that you can listen to with your grandkids.
 
If you call our local seed and fertilizer place and get put on hold, you get to listen to Jerry Clower while you wait. Kinda irritates me when they come back to answer your call.
 
Saw Jerry in late 70's I think at farm progress show. Dad wanted is autograph so he stood in line to get it, when he got up there he realized he didn't have any paper. !! Oh sh$@ , so Jerry signed the back side of his snuff box. (Back before they were plastic) He still has it in his desk and laughs about it every now and then. Paul
 
Certainly is high up the list--other favorites are kissing the mule, stealing the marbles, and of course John after the lynx. Jerry had a talent for understanding the fine line between barnyard humor and bathroom humor, and always staying on the sunny side of the line, and the new bull is one of his best efforts in that respect. No matter how many times you hear it, even if you can repeat it word for word, you're laughing all the way to the punch line!

Yes they were out coon hunting and leadbetter takes his shoes off so he can get a better grip on the tree. When he gets up there they are yelling to him to poke it with a stick. Well it warnt no coon it was a BOB Cat. Had them little tushes on its ears. Well they are both up there a wailin and hollerin and Ugean is tell us to shoot it! But we might hit you! Well just do something cause one of us needs a rest!
I'm sitting here chuckling now myself. There are like fifteen CDs so maybe I am going to buy a few.
 
"And John (Eubanks) ihollered,'Shoot this thang! Have mercy! This thang's killin' me!"

Mr. Barron hollered back, 'John! I couldn't shoot up there---I might hit you!'

John said, 'Well, just shoot up in here amongst us, 'cause one of us has got to have some relief!"
 
I remember the one where he was telling his dad he saw a lion, but it was only a big old collie. God backed him up and said he thought it was a lion too.
 
I've got all the 8 track tapes of Jerry we bought my Grandpa for Christmas back in the days, but, but no tape player! Glad YouTube can come through!
