Interstate battery s

Well that's what I wanted to hear going to pick one up tommoorow a little pricey but will be well worth it.nothing worse than getting your dump trailor half way up and the battery peters out.
Rick

Another good experience with Interstate = made by Johnson Controls (also mfg at least some of the Everstart "Max" at Wal Mart which I have in a couple vehicles including a diesel tractor).

rick1,
I only use cheap excide batteries. The oem battery in my dump trailer measured 1000 cca. After 4 years the battery took a dump. At the time I had an excide marine battery, 500 cca, on the work bench along with two excide lawn mower batteries, both rated at 350 cca each. Like any good redneck, I did what many told me wouldn't work. I used what I had at the time. Wired the 3 batteries in parallel. Measured over 1000 cca with a battery conductivity tester. When I use the dump trailer, the batteries are connected to truck's battery via a 20 amp circuit breaker. When I use the trailer on Farmall C, same thing, wired to tractor battery.

I use the dump trailer to move dirt around in the gravel pit. At most, I've used it 10 times in a day. My dump requires power for lifting and lowering bed. Not once have I had a problem with not having enough reserve power. I do leave tractor running all the time. Takes about 10 minutes for tractor to put the charge back in the batteries while running at a fast idle. That's about the same time it takes me to load it.

In my opinion you can use more than one smaller battery to get the job done. Geo.

The Interstate 6v batteries have not been good for me. They leaked really bad. Buying Carquest batteries solved the leaking problem.Haven't had a 12 volt Interstate battery in a long time.

I had one JD battery. NEVER AGAIN!!! it went bad after just 3 months. The dealer I bought it from. Wanted MORE to adjust the battery than I paid for the battery.

About three years ago I bought a new Excide 12 volt battery. I put it in a Case DV. I loaded in the front of the trailer with my restored VAO on the back. When I got to the tractor show there was spots on the VAO. By the next a.m. the paint was bubbling. The new battery was leaking acid and the wind blew it on the VAO. Exide paid 2000.00 for the damage. No more Exide battery's for me. Steve

I have a mixture of Interstate, Deere, Walmart, and whatever Bongaars sells for batteries on the farm and I honestly can't say one is better than the other. I did have a problem with a tiny little pebble working its way through the bottom of a Walmart battery just overnight with the tractor not running but it had nothing to do with the quality of the innards.

A Dura Start (Excide) battery leaked acid on the Weld wheels on the front of my pulling tractor and took some of the chrome off. Needless to say I wasn't impressed.

Interstate supplies the batteries at our Bomgaars store. And have had good luck with 6 volt from Bomgaars. chris

I'm kind of non-denominational. I used to use Strong Box batteries but as they died I replaced them with Interstate. The Interstate dealer here is a starter and generator shop. I find that as batteries die when they aren't open I put in a Walmart battery. I'm not sure I can tell a difference. I do like to support the small shop, though. They have been good to me.

(quoted from post at 19:03:46 03/04/16) rick1, I just want to say I have had really good luck with the JD Strongbox batteries. Paul

I have had very good luck with strong box battery's as well got some hibernators that's are ten years old and they sleep outside we get a couple weeks of 15 below weather every year some years 30 below

I have had very good luck with the Interstates also. Several are the Optima batteries and are terrific. They will crank stuff when cold that others just make it.

"Interstate" doesn't actually make batteries. They are a reseller of Johnson Controls batteries who (BTW) also makes "Diehards".

In the US, there's basically 3 battery mfg's, Exide, East Penn DEKA, and Johnson Controls.

So whatever "store brand" you may buy comes from one of those three.

Been using excide for a very long time. Own about 20. Never had any problems like you had. Problems with the charging system can cause battery to boil.

Are all Strongbox batteries JD? We were given one as a replacement 12 years ago and it's still going! It is in a JD 4600 and was
in an unheated garage on the CA border all winter and started the tractor last week, with no maintainer!

I've used them in boats and got very good service from them. They weren't marine battery either.

2 interstate batts to start the diesel in my RV, 6 optima to run the camper, all new in 2010 still no problems. most tractors and 2 combines have 2 12 volt batts they are strongbox batts from deere oldest ones are 8 years old in the 4640. semi's run 3 12 volt batts not sure what they are, have never changed them. car and pick-ups what ever factory is

True but batteries are made to different standards depending who's selling them, for example if two company's are selling a battery made by excide it doesn't mean they are the same product, the bodys of jd and Case batteries are the same, can't tell you if the insides are the same but I can buy them from Case for less money

been using them for years never had 1 disappoint me yet. Had to buy 2 batterys at Walmart when our little maintance guy was closed, they have been ok too.

I never liked them too exspencive could not get them warranted with out a fight!!!! DIE HARD: years ago they would warrantee them but they did not hold up so I was done with them, now SEARS is to far away. Napa seems to be hit or miss on quality and warrantee. I went with exide and am happy. Your mileage may vary.

I really like the batteries from Tractor Supply. I believe they are Exide. Anyhow, they last and last and last. Best batteries made are gel cels and are really worth the difference in price. Optima is not the only kind of gel cell. Each manufacturer makes them under different name. Used exclusively by the military

John Deere makes to lines ones a strong box the other one is the cheap pos for automotive and less demanded applications.
