Nice Rogue! Dad was a Rambler man, and bought cars from Mac Amey Rambler in Kingston, and a dealer whose name escapes me in Stouffville, Ont. In the fall of 66, the Stouffville dealer had both a Rogue and a Marlin. My brother and I thought dad should have one of those, but he settled for a stodgy old Ambassador. Have fun. 8)

I remember that they were supposed to be pretty hot, but no one around my town that would have shown how hot it was ever had one.

(quoted from post at 00:13:54 03/01/16) Was that a muscle car wannabee?
o, that's not a muscle car wannabe, just and old folks ride..LOL. But it would make a great sleeper, at least that was what we used to call them here. Slip a 390/transmission out of a javelin/AMX and smoke them muscle cars when the light turns green and the driver of the muscle car's are a sleep at the wheel. No, on second thought keep it as an old folks ride and enjoy them sun-day afternoon rides in the country. Probably get better mileage then many of today's cars without all the electronics's.

This one is not really rubber burner....232 cubic inch 6 cylinder 2 bbl. carb, borg warner 3 spd auto. The really scarce ones had a 343 4bbl and 4 spd, only 57 made. The really fast ones were the 1969 SC/Rambler with the 345 hp 390 Cid engine and all heavy duty equipment, with just over 1500 made. They were faster than most muscle cars of the eras, right off the lot. Today, a good one of those is worth over 60 thousand. Ben

No wannabe about it if it was ordered up like this. Just as fast or faster than any other muscle car.

SC/Rambler.

I always wonder just what does the term muscle car means. Muscle is a term for red meat in blood carbon based organism. I even heard the term muscle tractor few weeks ago, they were not even talking about high horsepower tractors. Somewhere in the 150 horsepower range. Perhaps I place too much emphases on words, just makes things easier to understand for me. Years ago fellow called my office asking if I had a tranny for sale. Told secretary to tell him no if he called back.Later he approached me in a restaurant saying you sold a roadranger transmission to a mutual friend. I replied yes I did, well I called your office asking if you had one for sale.I in all honesty replied, my secretary just said some one called about a tranny. I had no idea what you nor did my secretary know what you meant. I now know the slang term but not at that time. Even my good friend John T Country lawyer refers to a generator as a genny!!Has the same affect to me as fingernails on a chalk board. Please do not take this personally .Its just my Asperger Syndrome .

It's just as well you don't like that word; it'll soon be politically incorrect anyway. You know, the "T" word.

Had a few Pontiacs as collectors over the years. One was a 69 Grand Prix with a built
428 engine. Took a video while driving one day, hit 100 mph in 11 seconds and was
still in second gear....Google centash on YouTube. Got away with it when I was
younger, no desire to tempt fate anymore, so it stays stock. Ben

The big rub with the Ramblers was that they were always WAY BEHIND in technology. When the others were using disc brakes, Rambler was still using 4-wheel drums with seriously limited braking capacity. And be advised, that Borg-Warner transmission will not take any abuse. Make sure you warm it up good before you try to put it in reverse. They were famous for breaking the reverse band. One thing we used to do in the old days was to drill a small relief hole in the reverse servo to keep the reverse engagement from breaking the band from engaging too suddenly.

Nice.
I had an American of that vintage. 1969 IIRC.
199 six banger. 3 on the tree.
Drove it most of my college years. It was a good, reliable car. Not much of a girl getter though ;(

I've used the term "tranny" on occasion myself, even though I know better. But when they start talking about "gennies" and "dizzies" is when I go crazy!

Regarding Ramblers, my folks had a 1960 4 door sedan for a while. It was pink! I drove it to high school in my senior year till it spun a bearing. The front seat backs would recline all the way back, turning the whole car into a bed. We used to make a lot of jokes about that in school! In reality, I wasn't even dating anyone at the time.

I bought a '67 Rambler American new....it was special ordered, and when it came in the guy did not have the money to pick it up. It was not a Rogue, but rather the cheap two door with post, no air, no PS, just am radio. It had a power pack 290 v8, 4sp., 4.11 rear, with posi. I can't remember the hp, somewhere around 300. It was fun, strong and a real sleeper, also very light wt., which made it handle like you were on roller skates. I think the 343 was also available on a special order.

Thanks for the trans tip. AMC did lead in some areas.....first to employ dual circuit braking system, fully integrated HVAC systems, curved side glass....this model did have disc brakes as an option, much like other makes at the time, but vacuum wipers and non synchro first gear manual transmissions were still standard equipment in 1967!!! Ben

Very nice. I am a sucker for old hot rods, muscle cars, street rods, etc.
Stock or modified. I love them all.

Had a 67 Rambler American 440, plain as could be, drove it till rusted to not safe. Bought by Wifes great uncle new, 199 6 and 3 speed, he did not want auto as his work vehical was city fire truck and he was the driver and did not want to get mixed up in that truck if he needed to use clutch or not. Was given to me at 13 years of age and 31,000 mile and that was after it was wrecked the third time. Also had a 1960 Classic 4 door with 196 and push butten automatic and 1963 Classic 550 4 door 196 with 3 speed that was as plain as possible. All drove till rusted away.
