i have an oliver super 55 gas tractor and its always ran great till a couple months back every now and then when you would throttle up on it it would rev out of control it got to where it did it more and more now it either idles or revs to the moon there is no in between if anyone has any ideas or has had this problem and figured it please by all means help ive gone through the govener and replaced the thrust washer i dont know if there is linkage issues or not cause i cant find any pictures of how its all supposed to look when you pull back on the throttle lever the govener pulls back till the throttle linkage to the carb flops the carb wide open

How much movement do you have in your
governor shaft and the throttle shaft. A
little bit of movement in both can add up
to a lot of slop in something that needs to
stay put. When you go to high throttle,
do you have any resistance on your throttle
or governor linkage? Also, you might try
to post your questions on the Oliver forum.
Looks like there are several guys on there
with Super 55 questions.

Give me a little bit of time,I'll try to copy a page out of the manual. Otherwise I'll walk you through it without pictures.

OK,this is out of the 1550-1600-1650 manual, but the adjustments and process should be the same. Let me know if it works for you.

James, Had that happen to my 77 a while ago, it had the 55 type governor and the governor came apart, the weight assembly came loose from the shaft. Chuck
