Adirondack case guy

I saw your Sugarbush pictures and noticed the monitor. Given my stiff back and neck I have thought about that for field work. Can you tell me more about what prompted you to install the monitor and what brand it is? Would you recommend it now that you have used it?

Paul.
I ordered this backup camera because I don't have eyes in the back of my head. HeHe, and when we are gathering sap there are people that I don't always realize that are behind me and in a position where I could run them down. As you saw in the pics. the cam gives me a view of a "safty zone" behind me without having to twist my neck 180* I can glance to my RH side and view the monitor.
It is ment to be a backup camera, and has two different power sources. One for the monitor powered from the ignition, and one for the camera that is powered off the backup light circuit. I simply tied both together with a toggle switch to activate the system. Both components have wireless transmitter/receivers. There is also a wire from the camera to tie in a vidio recorder.
I found this on Amizon for about $50 bucks.
The resolution is not the greatest on the monitor, and the camera has limited periferal vision, but it does what I want. Instructions were very vague also, but this computer dummy got through them. For the price, I would recomend it.

Watch Harbor Freight ever now and then they have them on sale for around 50 bucks. I have one on my little excavator, keeps me from backing over things. I did just Adirondack guy and powered both from the ignition switch. When the excavator is running I can glance over and see what is behind me.

Thanks for the response Loren. I appreciate the explanation and the information on the Monitor. I believe I will look into that more.

Thanks for the pictures. I always like your equipment and the work and care you put into it.

I was thinking today we hadn't heard about your big tractor project but then I remembered you are doing tapping the Maple trees. It looks like quite the amount of work.

Tomorrow I have a friends 3020 to work on. I took it on partly to introduce a young high schooler to tractor mechanics. His High School does not have these kinds of classes and he wants to learn. He is a real hands on kind of young man. So we will be getting into a leaking hydraulic pump and possibly the steering motor.

Again, thanks. I will look into the Monitor further.
