OT: From farm to campaign manager

OK, this is kinda funny, there was a New York Times article yesterday on the campaign manager for Ted Cruz. His name is Jeff Roe, grew up on the family farm near Brookfield, Missouri, about 70 miles from where I grew up. They raised corn, soybean and hogs. Went to NWMO state university in Maryville. They probably had tractors, too, but the writer didn?t think to ask about those.

He grew up on a farm, now in the big leagues, doing dirty politics for Ted Cruz. Cruz has been in the news lately, being accused of lying and dirty tricks, I guess this former farm boy is the one doing them.

"Known for his aggressive campaign techniques, Roe has earned a reputation as a "bare-knuckle" political operative who "plays to win."

Not to start a political discussion, but I thought it was funny, I guess, because my experience would be that usually people raised on the family farm in Missouri lean toward being honest and kind, but maybe that?s just my rose-colored glasses talking (for a mixed metaphor)

Here?s the New York Times article on Jeff Roe:

I think this whole subject is gonna get deleted but I just gotta say, any body can accuse the candidate they don't like of the dirty tricks, everybody does, unfortanetly,
so picking apart 1 candidate you don't like for his/her "dirty tricks" is just plain hipocrisy.

I would like to think that the entire country is sick and tired of dirty politics. I told my local representatives TO THEIR FACES that the next one doing any mud slinging will guarantee my vote to their opponent. I really get tired of hearing about the time that a candidate "played hooky" from school in the 7th grade. Or the time he/she got caught having a smoke behind the bleachers. Enough is enough.

I thought it was a quote from a college newspaper where someone had a bible and Rubio said " there's no answers there " or " in there" . The guy Roe picked up on the quote and used it without fact checking . {After all it was a college paper]. So it ended up costing him his job when the Canadian Cruz guy fired him. My facts could be confused a bit too { except the Canadian part].But that was the article in my local paper.

i am sick and tired of the bs that goes with elections.
run on your record tell people what you would like to do if elected none of this pie in the sky stuff.
free college for anyone that wants to go someone will pay for you.
that someone 45 years ago was me i didn't think i would ever those loans paid off.

I'd like to see what would tumble out of the closet of a certain billionaire, but seems nobody can get the door open for some reason.

Politics is the greatest, most interesting game in town. Puts all your silly sports stuff to shame. Too bad we can't talk about it here. Too many here with the loudest voices and the least to say.
As for the fellow in the article, be glad we still live in a country where a man with smarts, grit and determination can go from a humble beginning to the National stage. Read about US Grant, Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton for some fine examples.

(quoted from post at 09:21:35 02/26/16) Just heard the best reason to vote for any Presidential candidate ever,
Al Sharpton says he's moving out of the USA if nnalert is elected(LOL)
