Quality engine parts

I posted this on the Deere forum last night but never got a reply. I am going to have to rebuild my 1520 diesel engine in the near future. I havent bought any internal engine parts in about 15 years. At that time you could pretty much count on good quality with companies like clevite,TRW, felpro and etc. In the last few years so many companies have sold out, shuffled around and moved overseas I dont know who to trust for quality parts. The last 2 wheel bearings I tried to buy from Deere were chinese bearings in a Deere box so I dont even know about them. I have been happy with the parts I have bought here on the YT site but when I called them today they couldnt tell me for sure what brand the crank was or what country it was made in.[I may need a crank] Sorry for the long post but if anyone knows where to buy quality parts it will be some of you guys. Thanks for any help/advice. Lee

Give this site some business, they use solid components and very few have issues. Speedy to your door service. As good as it gets, and well priced. Jim

Thanks for your reply. This site was my first choice. I have used them before and have always been happy with the parts and quick delivery. It just makes me a little nervous when I called them yesterday and the guy told me they had no idea of what part of the world they were made in. I will post back when I decide and use the parts. Seems like buying parts anymore is like walking through a minefield.

While this site is an excellent choice for parts for pretty much any tractor, you need to rely upon your local recommended automotive machine shop for your inner engine parts. You will take your crank to him and he will tell you if it needs replacement or just machining and a polish. He will then tell you what size bearings you will need once he has finished with your crank. He will evaluate your pistons and cylinder bores and tell you if you need sleeve kits or a boring job. After all this he will offer to sell you good quality brand name parts for less than you can get them yourself. After you purchase the parts he will then be available to answer questions that come up during the assembly, as well as those that come up 3-5 years later about other matters because he is now your buddy.

Thanks showcrop ! I may try to follow that plan. I am still trying to find a good local machine shop. 15 to 20 years ago when I built a couple of 283 chevy and 302 ford engines along with a super M and a 641 ford there were 6 or 8 good automotive machine shops within 20 miles. Now they are more like 100 miles away! Its the same with radiator shops we have 1 good one left 40 miles away. I guess its the result of a throw-away--- I want it now society. Lee

I'd go with a Deere engine kit if you can . As far as bearings ya that's pretty much the way it is fiat industrial is the same way
