Ok home now , all i can say it was a nice day for a DRIVE , Yep the A/C does work . Who would ever think that you would be running the A/C in Ohio in Feb. Knew things were NOT going to go my way. Drove up to Streetsborro to get on the pike and as i go to get my ticket the machine spits the ticket out and as i go to grab it the freeking wind SUCKED it out of the machine before i could grab it. Luckly one of the guys working the toll booths saw it happen and came over and got me a ticket . Figure that ticket should be in up state N.Y. by now. Get up to the gun show and the place was packed and we had to park a long way from the door , Long walk into the wind and by the time we got into the building i was half wore out . Well after walking and looking i found NO XDM's in 40 cal. and my oldest daughter showed up so we started also looking for a SR9 or a 9C for her . Three huge buildings of guns ammo and NOT ONE of what we were looking for. Lots and lots of A R's and AR parts.and way over priced stuff . 45 bucks for 100 rounds of CCI 22 mini mags. Yea i insulted him and told him i'll just wait till Fin Feather and Fur run there next special on them and get 1200 rounds for 95 bucks. Probably where he got them . Oh well 180 some miles with Supper at the Cracker Barrel and home safe . We were going to have supper with the oldest daughter at Smokey Bones , Nah NOT they are Closed up .

Tractor Vet--just one quick comment on the SR9 vs SR9C--I've shot both quite a bit as two friends own one of each, and have been really amazed at how much differently they handle. I was not at all impressed with the SR9--it shot much like Ruger's older autos--that is to say, it was like shooting a typewriter. It was topheavy, clunky, and VERY susceptible to jamming--it particularly did not like to be limpwristed--unless you held it like a vise, it would jam repeatedly. The SR9C, on the other hand, showed none of those problems, and we put a couple boxes of whatever ammo we had through it with no issues. In general, it was a much more enjoyable gun to shoot, which should translate into a gun she WILL actually shoot, and the more compact size is a bonus for anyone with smaller hands, while still being large enough for someone with larger hands to get a full grip. They also make an extension for the grip that allows shooting the full-sized magazines in the compact. I've seldom if ever found many deals at gun shows--it seems to be the place most dealers bring their junk to sell hoping the larger crowd will bring in suckers who don't know any better.

Walked into our local WalMart store today and they had CCI 40 grain .22 mags. for $13.00 for 50 rounds.

I have been to several indoor gun shows. I have found they are geared towards the rookie/uninformed gun owners or maybe the collector type. It seems there are two common guns at these shows. The collector stuff that is so valuable or in such good shape you are scared to take it out of the gun safe or the AR15 type of Rambo wantabee gun buyers. I have never found any deals on anything I would want to own.

The outdoor gun swap meets seem to have a better over all selection. It seems a more relaxed type of sellers. I have found stuff at those that I thought was a good deal.

Your right prices are high at gun shows but a good number of vender will dicker on price and you will make some buys on last day of show a few hours before closing of show. Some will deal because they don't have to pack it up to take home and it depends on how good sales were during show.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for in the 40. I bought a S&W MP Shield in 40 cal a while back. Was on sale for 375 and shoots outstanding well. Ruger's new American pistol also looks bood but not sure it is offerec in .40. It is bigger and heavier. .22 ammo seems to be becoming easier to find in my area(central Washington) some CCI long rifle. Local discount store has had .22 short HP. I don't think I have ever seen those before. When I was a kid I shot lots of shorts from my dad's old .22

The only complaint I have with my SR9C is that the grip with the 10 round magazine was too small for my small hand. I added a piece of wood and it made a world of difference. No problem with the 17 round magazine which I use when target practicing. I also like the laser sight for close range.
