for better or worse I just had the diesel tank filled with premium #2, paid $1.54 per gallon south central Iowa Should last me all next season. wondered what price others were being quoted. Thanks

tom,

I'm not really familiar with diesel. I just buy it in five gallon cans for my one tractor that uses it. I'm paying $1.69 for road use diesel (not dyed for off-road use only).

Is what you bought for road use or for off-road use?

I live in southern Middle Tennessee.

My nephew drives the fuel truck. He told me $1.53 two weeks ago. I need to call the office and ask what it'll be with 1000 gallon volume discount and cash discount. I sucked the tank dry the other day,so I'll need some in the next week or so.

This is farm diesel-- price is delivered. Price jumped at the stations about 20 cents past few days.

The farm I work for here in western nebraska bought some mid january for $1.06 but we got 60,000 gallons worth too. This last Monday he was going to get another 24,000 / three tanker loads and it was $1.20. He held off because it looks like it might drop some again in the near future.

Paid 1.63 for on road a couple weeks ago . saved fifty cents a gallon over what it is here in town by making a short trip . I got a deal on three transfer tanks back before Christmas, been watching them for close to a year on Craig's list . darn near new tanks , two 100 gallon and one 55 gal. He wanted a 150 a piece and i asked him what if i took all three would you take 75 dead silence then he said you will take all of them , yep all. OK deal. Well My one buddy Eugene took one and another friend took the other and i kept the 55 . Diesel does not drop much around here and is over what other places are charging . So if i fill the truck and fill the EXTRA tank i will have enough fuel for several months and at fifty cents to a gallon savings it will take about a year or less to pay for the tank and it is also a big help when going on long trips of not stopping for fuel . Yep still have the truck drivers kidneys so if ya need to stop every couple hours then i am NOt the person to go with . I was borrowing a friends 40 gal tank for this but i am not going to alway borrow when i need to go someplace where i was going to have to hunt for fuel and set and wait to get fuel when i am in the lets go mode. Now while out running and the fuel gauge says FEED ME just a flip of a switch and keep on trucken , when the gauge says full flip the switch for the next 400 miles your good .

You are paying about 20 cents, maybe more for state too, taxes on your road diesel. Off road farm diesel is the very same fuel, just has a red dye added to indicate it does not have taxes paid on it.

Most states have a process for you to recover your taxes, perhaps it is more work for,you for the paperwork than what you would get back.

A week ago in central IL, farm diesel was $1.38. Town prices are down one day and up the next. Checking gas buddy is not always accurate.

Just got 350 gallons of #2 dyed heating oil for $1.97. Best price we've seen in years. Seems to be fewer and fewer suppliers willing to deliver heating oil, we just had to switch from someone that had been doing ours for 12 yrs. They are just doing propane now.

Back when I farmed i bought the farm fuel in TN and on gas i bought away from my storage tanks i could recover the sate tax by submitting certain forms.
