Ford 8n colors ?

I've look through few posts? But can't really get any
info, anyone really know the ford 8n true color I've
seen 100 different colors seems like. I am looking to
paint one and I've heard (m 13243 )is it? But I've
seen them like a light gray color etc. heard
someone say they were olive gray color. But I've
also seen an advertisement from 1950 which seems
to be a light gray on them ? I know it's black white
picture but if the color was "olive gray" I would have
been somewhat dark in photo..... Not sure. Anyone
know the real paint?

Uncle bought a new 8n in 1952. It had the light grey hood and fenders, red engine. trans., and rear end.

Yeah what I'm a thinking I don't think they went to that olive greenish gray till the 53 fords jubaliee models etc on and on..... I've got a book that has data on the 8n models an talks about a little change in the color in 53. To 54 paints.

If I recall correctly there were no 8Ns painted gray. the 9n and 2n were gray however the 8n had a complete different color. The hood, wheels and fenders were an off white and the engine and frame was red and in 53 the NAA continued the color scheme but was modernized. The 8n had completely different wheels than the 9n and 2n.

It's your tractor, paint it any color you want! :)

The earlier 9N/2N tractor were all dark/battleship gray.
The 8N "redbellies" and NAA/Jubilees/640/early x000 etc
were medium gray over Vermilion Red not counting industrials.
The 65+ x000 series were blue and light gray.

Ask the same question on the 9N/2N/8N forum here on YT for
more definitive answers. Lots of 8N purists there.

Forgot to mention, that "medium gray" looks tan in some light,
green in other lighting. Even changes as you walk around it.
Here's my Jubilee painted with those colors.

Kind of hard to believe they called that "gray" too! LOL
But they did. That's Ford medium gray.
AFAIK, the correct color for 1948~64 ag tractors.

Royse is painted the correct color in time if left in the sun it will turn gray... If you have a I&T F-04 repair manual the cover is dang close to the correct color.. I like the original color for the tin but the original red just plain sucks in my opinion... No Vermillion red will go on my Ford...

"the original red just plain sucks in my opinion... No Vermillion red will go on my Ford"

We jokingly call it "Ford Orange" around here.
I have painted several Fords with Farmall Red.
People looking to buy them think that is the "right" color.

I painted a Dodge truck Farmall red too. It was cheap paint. LOL

Guys thanks so much for the info .... I'm looking into paint now ...... Friend of mine had an 8n I think it was a 1949 ? It was almost a egg shell gray color and red belly his dad bought it new that year here in Tennessee used it up to the early 1970s then just set in barn until he got it out in 2011 started using it again. It's still has the original paint in it to this day and Its like an egg shell gray color ? Maybe it's turn over time haha🤔🤔 being almost 70 year ago ha!

As of a couple of years ago my New Holland dealer still carried both the 8N gray and red, in both quarts and rattle-cans.
