Some one school me on crowd funding

There was a brief article on "crowd funding" for farm related. Funding from the internet and such. Can't figure out where the money comes from and how it gets repaid? Probably this is more than one thing. There have been some community projects that that asked for donations on the web face book or what ever. Some did not get much guess some did ok. Thanks to all.

That's how most charities work. Its easier to ask 100 people(the crowd, asked by any means beg, internet, protests/demos) to give a penny then to find a few that would give the whole dollar (just usually in larger figures).

Lot of times its a gift, you get it use it no need to repay. Others its an agreement of some sort: you pay for it, profits are shared(stocks work in this way), or you can use/enjoy it(think like a fair grounds, built on donations/fundraisers).

So can it be used for a private person/business example build a sheep barn on your farm???

If needed, this system works for almost anything. There's a whole web page/network just for crowd funding(gofundme.com). If enough people buy into the idea(want to help) you get the funds, if not your out of luck.

For your sheep barn example: you convince neighbors to help fund the barn, then pay back with a big block party(or two), or let them barrow your time or equipment for a time(say the next year after barn is built) without expecting pay(for the service) yourself.

Last fall there were 3 guys in a boat that went missing on Lake of The Woods, they found the first 2 bodies but haven't found the third. Someone decided to start a crowdfunded account to pay funeral expenses etc. And now someone has stolen some of the money from the account! Wherever there is money there is a scam artist!

Topic got poofed. I'm sure there are entire families destroyed by medical tragedies and the financial and emotional ruin they cause. Unless this website is itself a scam, it looked legit to me. Make up your own mind (before it gets poofed): https://www.gofundme.com/mollyjeffpeeters

Yep. I've even seen "gofundme" accounts for people panhandling for money to pay their student loans and one guy even wanted money to pay for the tags on the new vehicle he had bought and couldn't drive because he didn't budget for the cost of the tags.

Then there is the woman in Chicago that had a "gofundme" account set up to pay for the funeral of her child that was killed by people looking for her gangbanger boyfriend. She took the money and bought a new car and left the funeral expenses for someone else to pay.

Anytime someone is asking for money from donations there is a chance that money will not go toward it's stated propose. It's only as honest as the person asking for that money.

I guess being dumb is no bar to begging money.

Know a fella that married a professional welfare woman. She went on that website and wrote a sob story and the money rolled in. The people that donate think that they are doing good without having to get personally involved, but the money goes to the scammer.

Here is a lig one. https://www.gofundme.com/sosaustinburgucc?utm_source=internal&utm_medium=email&utm_content=cta_button&utm_campaign=upd_n

Bret,I didn't think when I went to work at 2:00 AM plowing snow that this subject would get so out of hand! What I was trying to express that a town of less than 900 people have rallied around this couple. I posted a picture of Jeff working on his Case 1070 last year. Notice the branch that grew into injector line! They don't even know about the donations and I just found out about it last night. Greg

Greg it looks like someone hit the panic button for some reason. I remember you posting several times throughout the past year about these people and the terrible loss of their child, and now we know it is 2 children. Oh Lord have mercy. I lost my first child to birth defects. Seems like folks would rally around someone in trouble like that. Unless I missed something it appears to be to a good cause! But maybe 'Mob Rule' sometimes prevails here. lol

The doctors operated on that baby twice in less than a week and the first operation didn't go as planned but they remained hopeful. The hospital was about an hour away in Albany and I am pretty sure this money is but a drop in the bucket to the bills they have.
