Where do you buy yours. I have ordered from various seed catalogs and speciality seed companies and have never been overly pleased with the results. I have ordered from Totally Tomatoes, Bakers, Gurney's, Parks and others and for me I favor purchasing from the local farmers coop. Wide selection in bulk with seeds selected for this area of NW Alabama. On occasion I purchase from seed racks at Lowes, Tractor Supply and other locations. Once purchased from Walmart those 20 packets of Italian lettuce seeds with astounding results.

Just ordered 5 lbs. of Ambrosia sweet corn seed from Martins Produce Supplies in Liberty, KY @ (606) 787-9389.

pete be advised if you are wanting bees or other insects to pollinate your veggies or melons, a lot of garden seed is now treated with the neo nic's that are killing our bees and other good insects. Might want to check into it.

We had a truck garden road side stand for 22 years and bought 95% of our seed from Jung Seed Company and had very good results with their seed.

its seems to me that its hit or miss with seeds. i have good luck with hot peppers from totally tomatoes, big r's has some good seeds, some bad, rural king isnt too bad either. what i started doing several years ago is keepeing track of what i planted and where the seeds came from, then in the fall track how they produce. funny thing, i cannot get carrots to produce at all. cukes, maters, peppers, beets, okra, cabbage , lettuce, all good. no carrots. tried watermelon a couple times, had really nice looking melons, but absolutely no flavor at all.

I like have been buying from gurneys for long time and really like them. There is a large family green house close by so I but a lot of my plants there. For my sweet corn I get it from Rispens in IL. They carry RR corn and seeds for commercial growers.

Hi, I bought some corn seed called "bodacious" from Fred Meyer at Wenatchee Wa. It is very good! It was Ed Hume seed. Stokes is another good supplier. Ed Will

Pete We found out from our local garden supply place, have known Frank for 30 years, he knows we have bees and he told us all his seeds have it. He suggested we go to RH Shumways seeds, He thought their seed was clean. I havn't called them yet-- fixing to do it next week. In the mean time gotta get some snow moved to poor a slab for the new greenhouse.

Mostof my seeds I get from a local feed store that sells bulk. Plants I get from local nursery, and what I can't get from those 2, I'll get from Wal Mart or rural King. I'm not going to pay for the shipping that the seed catalogs charge

We've enjoyed Jung's seeds for many years.
They have expanded over time. I think they are affiliated with (or own) quite a few of the other catalogue companies now. Totally Tomatos, Seymours Select, RH Shumway...etc.

I try to buy local, varieties that grow well near me. I've been dabbling with seed-saving, but it's an art form I have not mastered yet.

Harris Seeds sells many of their seeds either treated or untreated. The concern about neonicotinoid treated seeds is overblown anyway.

call these people for a catolog,,not a fancy picture filled catolog,but their seeds grow good.. I paid 3,30 for a lb of turnip seed.all the others want at least 10 dollars per lb. All the seeds I got from them did well;

270 885 1048 They are mennonite people and have been really nice to deal with, they dont take credit cards, but do take checks,,,try them,,you wont be sorry..originally someone on this site told me about them,

We go with Old's for most things, we have a wholesale/business account with them(so we get more and at better rate, then sell to neighbors). People can pick them up in packets, never had a problem with em

Harris is one I buy a lot of seeds from also. I have used Johnny's in Maine and Totally Tomatoes, too. I also try to keep track of varieties so I have an idea of what does well here and what doesn't do well.

We used to buy from a local Amish store that sold Olds seeds but have had some really bad germination rates with their stuff.
We live near a Jungs so we go there to buy a lot of our stuff.
R H Shumway is another one we use, I like their catalog.

Neonics are not the big bad problem that some have made them out to be. Recent research is pointing away from them as a cause in bee deaths.

The two places I order from are Rupp Seeds in Wauseon, OH and Burrell's Seeds in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Burrell's is an old-fashioned place where as a kid I remember the wooden pigeon holes on the wall full of different seeds and the old sliding weight scales. (It should be noted that this was in the 80's - most places were more modern by this time.) I like ordering from them because you can get a lot of seed for very reasonable prices as well as to support a hometown business. Rupp is more geared towards commercial growers but does offer small quantities of many of their varieties. There is also a bit of a family connection to this company too in that it is in my father's home area and he was childhood friends with some members of the Rupp family who run the business.

Usually Sustainable Seed Company or R H Shumway. I don't buy many seeds anymore. Most of what I grow is open-pollinated heirloom type varieties, so I save seeds from the vegetables. You can spend a lot of many buying seeds every year.
