starter solonoid id

my solonoid on my 275 massey has went out and i guess it is a aftermarket starter on there because the solonoid doesnt look like any of the ones i see listed for the 275. does anyone maybe no a part number or where i might could get one like this one? thanks

Take it and the plunger to a rebuild shop. They can match it up, it is a lucas but without seeing the plunger its hard to give a part number. jstpa

Massey starter # 579488M91 or a Lucas # 26404A. Solenoid #105244 from the parts book on the AGCO online parts book.. for the 275 tractor..

Did you take the cap off yet, some have a washer that you can give a quarter turn so it makes contact again!

does the starter have to be removed to take the plunger off? feels like there is something holding it on

The plunger is held in by the fork on the engaging lever, you need to unpin the lever to get the plunger out. Yes it would be much easier to work on the bench than in the engine, I'm not saying it can't be done but far easier if you take it out. It would also be a good thing to clean out the dust/ debris, oil the starter drive and check the brushes. AGCO parts book online has a pictorial break down of the starter.
