I just purchased a Massey 204 industrial with a loader that does not have a PTO I was told that some have the optional PTO......my question is can I install a aftermarket PTO on this fairly EZ ? I think that the PTO looks very close to an old 35 model and might just slide in but do not know to to engage if this is in fact true. Any body know about these tractors ??

I hope you get an answer that will help you, but if you don't, get a parts manual, and you should be able to deduce something from that. May also need to look at parts for the 35 to see if that will help. There are probably no "aftermarket" PTO's. Assuming you have a hole covered by a plate, you may be able to make something work. If it a "bareback" with no hole for PTO, you're pretty much out of luck unless you can find a parts tractor with a compatible rear half.

I had a 204 and 2 2400 all were forklifts. They had torque converters and no clutch. without a clutch how could you have a PTO?

IF the tractor has the torque convertor transmission you could put in a PTO shaft, BUT you may not want it as it WILL turn backwards when in reverse. If tractor had a three point pump it worked fine either way as it's a piston scotch yoke style. The four speed convertor drive is handy for some things, but not PTO work.

I've wondered about the difficulty of adding a PTO myself. I know where there is a industrial model Farmall 300 that left the factory without a PTO.

It's in nice shape but a I need a PTO on my tractors.
