Has anyone had any experience with Delphi electrical components in vehicles..Inquiring about an electric fuel pump..

Your right Delphi was or is GM.

With all the problems I've had with GM products I'd steer clear ! LOL.

Wonder if they made the ignition switches for GM ???

Much of Delco was spun off into Delphi shortly after I left.

Can't remember whether it is still independent or not.

Delphi is a company GM created back in the nineties to spin off its component suppliers. Supposedly the name is based on the names of the GM subsidiaries that formed it: "Del" (AC Delco) + "p" (Packard Electric) + "h" (Harrison Radiator) + "i" (Inland-Fisher-Guide). Interestingly, GM kept the AC Delco brand for itself when it sold Delphi, so the "AC Delco" part you buy today could be made by just about anybody.

Delphi had problems on its own, and eventually went into Chapter 11. Interesting, some parts of Delphi such as Delphi Thermal Systems (formerly Harrison) were bought back by GM. What remains of Delphi is headquartered in Britain; it is still one of the largest suppliers of OEM parts in the world.

Read Greg Palast's article in the Nation about Delphi, money made and the involvement of Paul Singer, Elliot Managements, and Mitt and Ann Romney, and others(Koch Brothers, etc). The greased pigs got away again with TARP money and moved Delphi's headquaters to the Isle of Jersey tax haven on the coast of France. VERY factual and eye opening.
