o/t - cell carrier

My contract with AT&T is up next month. Looking for a different carrier for a couple reasons... one being cost. Was wondering which carriers you all have, or would recommend (or NOT recommend!). Was also wondering if any of you have heard of or done business with Charity Mobile. I'm in n/w WI, if that makes any difference.

Used to be with Centurytel. Very, very poor. Always something screwed up or not working. Would always take forever to get through to someone and when you finally got through, they very seldom had a clue on what the problem was or how to fix it so, most of the time they would lie to me. They would tell me it would be fixed in a day or so and a month later nothing had changed. They would tell me a service person would be out the next day and no one would show up. Glad to be rid of them. Switched to Verizon a month ago. So far glad I switched

Don't know anything about cellular, but I've had U. S. Cellular for about 20 years, and don't ever remember it being down or not working.

I have Verizon, both for Internet service and my wife's and my cell phones.

Service is basically flawless, but Verizon is sure proud of their service come the monthly bill.

Every time we increase our monthly allowance, and without changing our habits, within a couple of months our usage just happens to be at the new level. Would I recommend Verizon? Not if I had any other options.

I have Straight Talk, $30 a month for 1500 minutes talk or text. Verizon is the carrier here.......phone works anywhere in the US. Wife has a smartphone, $45 unlimited talk or text.

Verizon. Five smart phones in the family, 10 gig data (we use 4ish). $300/month. Better service in SW Lower MI than ATT.

not enough room here for me to put all the bad experience i had with verizon internet, needless to say i'd steer clear of them

I think anymore you'll find most plans will give you unlimited voice and text. So you'll have to narrow it down by how much data you want and by coverage.
I have had T Mobile for about 2 1/2 years now.
Like you, my contract (with Sprint) was up and I was looking around. Ruth suggested T M.
It is about $20/mo cheaper than Sprint was with more data plus NO contract.
All of them were about equal for coverage here in the city but TM is by far the best up in Aitkin.
Not The deciding factor but a bonus nonetheless.

I use metroPCS. Service coverage is not the best, but for the most part it does anything that the other carriers can do for less money.
Just a side note on those "smart" phones: they make a poor internet appliance as compared to a real computer with a real browser and a real monitor. My girlfriend has one of them, and the difference is staggering. They aren't worth the money!!!

I got my brand new Kyocera smart phone on Ebay for less than $40. I only use it on WiFi but it can be activated by Boost (Sprint). Now Tracfone has an activation plan at WalMart. My smartpone IS my computer. It does everything a computer will do.

I am very satisfied here in NW ND with Verizon, have 2 flip phones and one smart phone for hotspot internet access at farm, with 10 gig of data, unlimited talk and text. All for 150 bucks a month, tax deductible as farm expense. I have been selling cell phone boosters for home and vehicle for years, and most customers prefer Verizon over the other carriers in this area. more towers and better reliability.

I use Virgin Mobile 'GoPhone'. Unlimited talk, some texting.$20 per month. Idont text or do 'online',so suits me. great coverage, too. Only downside is I have to buy a card every 30 days.Coulde probably set up as aUTOMATIC top- up,but I prefer not to.

I have Virgin Mobile. I need a new phone, they won't let me keep my package if I get a new phone. They don't sell it anymore. But I like what I have, only have to put $20 on every 90 days. Guess I'm just cheap.

Check ebay for a new phone. I was able to replace my phone with a brand new one of the same model. I think they are china clones as the original was not made in china... at least it does work well.

Verizon has the best coverage that we've found and has been very reliable. The 4G service is really fast.

I use Page Plus Cellular they connect with verizon towers 32.00 a month with tax for 1500 min talk unlimited text and 1gig data at 4G. My wife's plan 12 dollars a month 250min 250 text 10MB data 3G only. Good service in my area.

thanks for all the input. Verizon is the most frequently recommended carrier by my facebook friends, as well. One nice thing about them is that there's a store here in town. I'll be stopping in to check their plans next time I'm in town. Shouldn't be hard to beat $160/ month for two phones with unlimited minutes and texts and 300 MB data.

I don't text and seldom use my phone. I may go several days without making or receiving a call. I buy my phones on ebay. I use AT&T go phone and seldom spend more than $20 a month.

Depends on where your located... In some areas any of the big 4 will do fine. In rural areas it hugely different. So.. You may or may not have good coverage. Cricket sells off of at&t towers at a huge discount if at&t towers are good in your area. Again, every area will be different. In metros the difference is negligible.. Verizon won by just 2 points, At&t next, and then t-mobile with sprint bringing up the rear. However in Texas At&t wins... especially in the rural areas.
