Doing some engine work on a Ford 8N, taking the rod caps off, one was hard to come off. I tried to put it back together after removing the piston and it when on but with some persuasion with a plastic hammer. How does one fix this problem?

ANOTHER "IF it ain't broke, let's fix it 'til is"!

ASSUMING you haven't swapped caps and marked the orientation of the cap before removing it.

the proper thing to do with rods anytime doing an engine overhaul is to have them resized. as they will get egg shaped. the ends are ground down a few thou. then torqued together and resized to original spec. both halves are a matched unit then. and if mixed up and you dont know where what goes where then a resize is a must.
