Last of the tomatoes

Well here are the last of the tomatoes, picked green in early November and left in the basement to turn, not bad as my best before was Thanksgiving Day. Location----Eastern Shore of Maryland

Very nice , and they look yummy too ! Years ago we liked to do more in the garden , and we found some Tomatoes called "long keepers" . They never got ripe before frost , so we picked them , and wrapped all the tomatoes that where blemish free in newspaper, and put them in a box in the cellar. Every week or so we would go and take a look to see how the ripening was coming. We ate the last of our garden tomatoes at Easter that year.I think we bought the seeds from Stokes Seeds . Bruce

Pretty cool! I did manage to hang onto my last watermelon until Dec. 2, but, alas, it was kind of mushy by then. I used my last eggplant around Dec. 15. (This is in southern Minnesota.)

Yeah Bruce, Burpees first develop the "Long Keepers". I grew them back in the 70's. Never came close to keeping them till Easter, good job!

Tried some probably 20 years ago. Rotted on stalk before harvest time. Never tried again.
