The wife baked a plate of cookies for the two old farmers down town from us,on a side road. I have taken pictures of this road before and posted them here, but they just got another JD Tractor. They used to be dairy farmers, now they do hay and have a road stand for sweetcorn. I asked the brothers if I could post a story ,they said sure..

So,,I asked them,,what made you buy another 4020?They said,,they are great tractors, We use the one to cut with the haybine, then had to unhook to hook up to the baler, had to flip the drawbar too,,,now ,,We dont have to unhook anything during hay season.Sounded like a good answer to me! ,,,,, Further down the end of the side road is another farm,,,I Spotted some tractors there too.

On the way up the road towards the main road, this farm is a horse farm.. These pictures of farms are getting to be a rare sight around us here in NJ where we live. The two old farmers have some great stories. The one brother really liked the homemade cookies,,and hinted that his favorite meal is spagetti and meatballs. So,,when the wife makes it ,Ill bring them some and get some more stories for Y/T.

That Oliver 88's a pretty rare bird. Only built one year, maybe just half a year depending on who you listen to. Doesn't look like the original wide front though. I think the original would have been cast iron.

I dont know that fellow, they moved there not too long ago,but the tractor was in the front,I think they had it decorated for Christmas .It was right along the roadside.

That part about having a tractor for each implement is a goal I like. I'm well set for the light jobs, but need one more big tractor. Working alone is so much easier when you can just jump from one tractor to another and go! These guys apparently like SR transmissions. I don't think I could give up my old 4020 PS for a synchro.

As always- great pictures.

Why would an 88 be rare/unusual? Plenty of them around here...just saw a gasser advertised this week. Neighbor has a desel...or do you mean straight 88, not Super?

Grill looks like an 80 instead of an 88. maybe its a transition year? I thought all 88's looked like the olly in the next pic.. Im wrong alot tho. ;0)

You got it. They only had that style grille for the first year, before the 66 and 77 came out.

I like those Olivers. Still see a few here and there.

What's with the siding at the horse farm? Is that some kind of cement or stucco?

I got an original survivor that runs with a 283 , and a dump hoist .. with a little effort he could qualify and pass dot ..

Oh if I had some money laying around I'd love that truck . . . but I have to upgrade my corn planter.
