Went to use my brother's 545D yesterday and the loader lift will not go up. The valve is hitting something hard and does not travel. Also when you lower and try to go into float it will not stay in float. I am thinking something let loose in the sleeve/ball assembly that is bolted to the back side of the loader valve spool. Anyone else have any experience with this one? Thanks!

I think you are on the right track. sometimes the end cap bolts work loose & detent/centering spring parts get out of place.

I do not know if it's freezing where but I had a similar problem with my 545 backhoe . The temp was about 25f and the loader did not respond to the control lever. When the temperature went above 40 it worked OK.

There is a detent ball out of place. There is a plug in the bottom of the spool. It is a spiral snap ring you remove and then remove the plug
and the ball will fall out. You have to do some disassembling to repair and possibly the new stem on the bottom. Hope this helps.
