What it this?

Well fur shur parts are missing cause you can see a lot of bolt holes. I have no idea but I am sure someone has a photo of the complete machine.

That is a windrow attachment for and old Gehl silage chopper. You can even see the yellow writing on the side of the one shield. My dad bought one years ago to chop silage. Had a two row head on it and one of those along with it. Never used it as we didn't chop hay, just corn. Sat in the weeds like the picture lol.

It is the feed wheel of a direct cut hay head from an old" Gehl maybe" forage harvester.
The pic I posted, is of a CASE direct cut head, very similar. Case later used a 7.50x18 traction imp tire rather than a metal wheel.

We had a Gehl direct cut head just like that before we finally went to a flail chopper. You can always tell a Gehl by that wheel.

Yep dad had the GEHL with windrow pickup in the 50's before my time. Was parted/scrapped out in the 70's but parts of it live on today on my brothers sawmill. His was PTO drive.
Have some b/w photos of field work but not sure where at this time.

We had a pickup head like that on our Gehl chopper. Never did use it much for windrows but I did pitch many cut up round hay bales into that pickup to grind the hay for the stock cows. Quartered the bales (alfalfa) with a chain saw and pitched them in. Good way to stay warm on a cold winter day.
