kubota L2550 won't start

I have a Kubota L2550. I changed the fuel filter and have fresh fuel in. The engine cranks but won't start. If I spray starting fluid into the air intake it will run until I quit spraying. I used it last week. It ran for about 30 minutes then suddenly quit. Any suggestions on want to do to get it started?

Does it have an electric "kill" solenoid?

If so, could be loss of power to the solenoid or solenoid failure.

A friend has a LOW-houred Bobcat with a Kubota engine, last spring they shut it down, next day it wouldn't start.

I figured it was a wiring issue, but no, the IP shutdown solenoid had failed.

Did it quit before or after the filter change? Just so you know if you use enough starting fluid you won't have to just worry about it not starting you will need new pistons.

Most common thing is you forgot to turn the fuel back on there at the fuel filter housing. After that next most common on L2550 is the kill switch is pulled out. Start at the filter and make sure you have fuel to the pump the crack an injector line and see if you are getting fuel out . DO NOT USE EITHER, IF YOU HAVE NOT RUINED IT WOT TAKE LONT TILL YOU WILL. In the absence of either mix some 50/50 gas and diesel in a spray bottle and spray in the intake but if you will turn the fuel on probably will crank.

When cold cranking it, there should be white/blue smoke from the exhaust. If there is not,
then its not getting fuel, and good suggestions are below. If it does smoke but doesn't
start, either the compression is too low (not likely if it had been starting OK) or the
timing is off; chain/gears broke or pump has been rotated/internals damaged.

If it does not have some kind of heater for in the cylinders, how are the pistons going to be damaged if the ether is used in a reasonable manner. I'm not an advocate of ether if there is another option. Just sometimes the other option is not available.

A short spray to start is ok but the pre ignition can break the lands off of the pistons. I have seen it happen. If the risk is worth it to you I'm ok with it.

Engines that utilize glow plugs such as a Kubota L2550 should NEVER have any ETHER used on them.

I'll bet air in fuel lines or failed fuel control solenoid.
