Your Next Tractor

What's on your wishlist? If you could pick one to bring home right now, what would it be? Mine would be something like the picture. A
tractor/loader/backhoe, but with a 3 pt instead of a backhoe. Heavy duty industrial loader and front axle with FWA. Cab with heat.
Shuttle shifter. Reliable diesel. Much, much cheaper than a comparable ag tractor and I've seen what happens to ag tractors with a loader
on cattle farms. Something a little more pleasant to do chores with. Although, an Oliver Super 77 or 88 would be fun. And, I spotted a MF
97 and an MH 44 diesel rusting away yesterday. How about you?

My 1st choice would be a 1570 Spirit of 76
My 2nd choice would be a 770 diesel PS Black Knight
My 3rd choice would be any Case Cross Motor

I would like to buy a newer tractor, 30 hp range, with cab, however I can't stand the smell of diesel. Are there any new 30 hp gassers?

Something with tracks to clear several acres of junk trees, mostly thorny locust.

Another CaseIH Magnum.

You're right about the industrial tractor/loader. I have a Ford 655A T/L/B, and it is the most frequently used machine on the farm.

Well I recently rebuilt a carb for a 630 JD about 15 min away from me for a nice elderly gentleman. One owner , sold by Don Sharkey JD , about 1/2 hr away, now Baders , full 3 pt , full new gen style fenders , 100% original paint and never been off the farm it now resides on. All the original paperwork. Had a real nice talk with him and looked at all his "stuff" in barns. I am #1 on list if/when he decides to sell. He also has an R and B that his dad bought new. He says they don't go as long as he's alive but the 630....maybe...said he'll let me know. History is everything..love to have it/preserve it just the way it is.

I'd like to find a newer 70-80 pto hp tractor with cab, 2 wheel drive, close to me for around 15k....so far a lot of research and few results.

(quoted from post at 20:07:13 12/16/15) What's wrong with the 6080?

I would like a little better gear selection and a reverser....and a little quieter cab. I would have to get the AC working and change out the rear tires as they really tear up the turf on short turns, which wouldn't fly on a lot of my mowing jobs....plus I need a tax write-off

I'm pretty good on tractors. Knock on wood.

I would love to have an old Massey Harris Super 92 combine, though. We had one back when and it was a good machine. I'd probably use it to cut some oats or milo once a year and that's it. Just to play, really. I'd have to use the old straight truck - I know the old Massey wouldn't reach the grain carts or semis.

I just bought a Kubota M9960HDC12 and a Kubota L6060 hydrostat, both ROPS. My tractor wish list is completed and I doubt that I will ever buy another.

Soon it will be time to start divesting of my 4 vintage Fords and my two late model Massey Fergusons that prooved to be dissapointments.

I am looking for a nice low houred JD 6410 MFWD open station tractor. My JD 6400 has been the best tractor I have ever owned but it does have 17,500 hours on it. So I want to move it to a backup roll. I do not want anything newer than the 10 series. There where too many engine/injector troubles with the 20and 30 series utility tractors.

I'd get just what I have now, but with the rear hydraulic remotes and the draft control. Its a 2003 New Holland TC35 with ag tires and two wheel drive.

I know I can add these on, and will, sooner or later. Maybe.

If I was to get another tractor, which will be fairly unlikely for me. It would be one that actually ran when I picked it up. The last three needed major engine work. Stan

Many years ago, I looked at a JD 4040 with SGB and Powershift trans, only 900 hours. It was a toss up between that and a brand new 2955, which I bought. Always wondered what the 4040 would have been like.

As far as tractors go I would like a case 830 comfort king diesel with case-o-matic. And eventually a 530 diesel COM.

Something about 85hp, diesel, with a good loader and a cab. I also need a 35ish hp diesel for bush hog work. A loader would be nice there too.

I'd rather have the money they would cost to pay down debt.

I dought that there ever will be. Too many people are brainwashed into thinking diesel is the only way to go. And I am like you, cannot stand smell of diesel. Only thing ever considered with diesel was years ago when these would have been considered a major farm tractor and they were a Ford Major and Deere 435. The Deere just happened to be what was avaible when needed a tractor when Deere said our B was beyond repair, Found a mechanic and he rebuilt it in his yard and it is still running 40 years later. The major was size needed on farm but other than the asking price the diesel engine killed that thought and that was before I knew I was having problems with the stink of the diesel.

Hi, I would like a jd 'm'restored. When I was young our neighbor had one. Could it ever mow! And sounded cool. Edd will.

Ford 740
Green 2 cyl crawler with blade
4200/5200 dual-stick Narrow front Ford.
.........and I want my 75 Ford 5000 with loader back (I sold it)....some new projects, and I need it badly.

and add me to the list for a new 30-50hp Gas-powered loader tractor. (my new diesel always starts but it tells me how unhappy it is in January.......especially when I need it right [i:5a5a49cf43]now[/i:5a5a49cf43] and can't get some heat into it before starting it)

I may be the only one looking forward to that day coming. I spent many hours on a diesel tractor as a kid. Today I can't stand to be around them. KISS, keep it simple and diesels aren't simple to work on. Ours never liked to start in cold weather. Our old gassers did.

I have a CaseIH Maxxum 5230. The 4x4 partial power shift is nice, as is the reverser. But I'm not impressed with the cab. I bought this after buying a Magnum(over twice as big) and the big tractor is quieter! I had an AC 6060, and liked the cab. Maybe I have gotten softer!

Next tractor? Singular?

First, I'd like a replacement for my SA, which is the most surprisingly handiest and hard working over achiever I think I could ever find for it's size (and price). Our current one was an hour and a half from the scrap heap when I got it 8 years ago: the engine block was severely freeze cracked and though patched so it doesn't leak, isn't worth fixing; the tranny and final drives have been overly noisy from day one, leak oil about as fast as I can add it, and now may be approaching 'end of life' as the noises are getting noticeably worse. But because we've been cash strapped and it's been the only working tractor here for most of the past 4 years, it hasn't had down time available to do any major work on it even if funds were available, yet it still does all I can reasonably expect of it. It starts better than our pickup, usually on half a roll by starter, or no more than full roll by crank. Last summer we got an H, and it's getting some needed work done before it gets bad, partly because it's a keeper, not a sacrificial lamb.

For a 'nother next tractor, I think I'd like a 6x6 series IH, with a quick attach loader, even if I had to build the mounts myself.

Beyond that if money was no object and there was nothing better to do to prepare for the end of the world as we know it, a 1650 Ollie (and a super 88 and OC3, and a bigger barn), an AC WD45 (and WC, and G), a 4020 Deere, a MF 185 (as big sister to the MF65 HiClear currently in the workshop), a Fordson Major and Ford Dexta (and a much, much bigger barn); then start working on some more rare and interesting stuff, like MH, Hart Parr, or Sheppard, and implement stuff, along with doing some "if they made a model like this today" hypothecations on common (not collector) stuff, like a 30hp diesel SA with a 'factory style' 3pt AND fast hitch (or easily convertible), a fully syncro 4 or 5 speed tranny with a hi/lo in front of it, full gauges, power steering, MFWD, front PTO (for a snow blower or mower deck), along with front and dual rear remotes; something that would still run all the OEM equipment and nearly anything else for it's size made since. I'd have to call it the Super Duper AD4+, or something like that. Then do a gas version with EFI. Once the prototypes had the bugs worked out, I'd start rebuilding them in production. Yup, I'm that impressed with the SA (and love the sheet metal lines).

Realistically, I'll neither be rich enough, nor likely live long enough to make any of that happen even though I have most of the skills needed to do so. Besides, there are far, far more important things needing to be done before my time here expires. Still, it was nice to dream for a moment.

I want something with a WARM in the winter and COOL in the summer cab! 4440, 1086, 5088 -100 to 130 hp to put my westendorf wl 42 on. Would love a front wheel assist but not in my price range!

My choice of another tractor would be a JD B hand start, in good enough shape to restore without costing an arm & leg. I had to let one go last year that was located close by, only asking $700, but when on a small pension plus social security check of $250/month, it is hard to be able to afford anything but what is necessary. I sure do like the "Johnny Poppers", though!!

I have JD Ford Allis tractors would really like to have a 686 ih with loader close second would be 584 had one few years ago wish I had it back

A good ranch backhoe with 4 wheel drive and extend-a-hoe that is work ready for under $25K or a 30-40 hp mini-excavator with swing pivot for 15K. Probably will have to wait until next year.

Cockshutt 570 super. There was a nest of 560's 570's in our neighborhood and I should have bought more tractors and less libation in those days. They just had a sound and were brutes for their time.

Well, it'll be another Ford.
I already have half of it - a 1973 4000 school tractor. Just need to find a clunker for all the tin, wheels, front end, etc.
These were donated by Ford to various high schools and Votechs around the country.
I'm thinking I'll build a 4500 this time.
