Wiring 3 lights in skidloader

What is the best way to wire 3 12 volt lights on my skid loader to the battery using either a toggle switch or rocker switch. This all came about because my lights stopped working all at once. Thought it was a fuse but can not locate on, this may have been rewired, don't know. It is a Case 1835C and there should have been a fuse under the seats, can't see on, and everything else works. Then I thought the switch was bad, went to take the cover off to get to the switch and the screws holding the panel on are rusted and will not come out. Don't want to drill them out so I just figured to run new wire through a toggle to make them work. Any suggestions on size of wire, what switch, does it need fused, and a diagram or step by step instructions would be helpful. Just don't want to cause a fire or ruin something else by thinking I know what I'm doing. Thanks.

12 gauge wire would be heavy enough going from the switch to each light. 10 gauge for a supply from the battery/supply to the switch. You just need a fused supply with the fuse close to where you getting the power from. I would go right from the battery cable connection on the starter. That way your not using any of the "factory/existing" wiring. Put the fuse as close to the supply as you can easily get. The size of fuse depends on your lights. Larger halogens will draw more AMPs so you would need 20-25 with them. Factory glass bulbs would be more 15-20 amps.

IF your going to install new lights than think about LEDs. They would draw even fewer AMPS and then you could use smaller wiring like 14 Gauge. This would help the charging system too. Many of the older/smaller skid steer loaders did not charge the best.

What JD said plus make sure you use a switch that is rated for more than the amount of amps your lights draw, unless you wire in a relay.Mark
