Hello new here I have a 1282 cub has a kohler K301 that shakes real bad when i start it just got this tractor so i don't know much about it could someone please tell me what is wrong thanks and have a nice day
 
Your mounting bolts fell out. Probably on the left side. It is also most likely beating the cast aluminum oil pan into a pan cake.
Run your fingers under the mounting holes and see if the bolts are there.
 
I checked the mounting bolts they are all there and tight when I say it is shakes I mean it it is running real ruff.have any other ideas thanks for you quick response
 
Only other thing is the carburetor. Does it blow any smoke and if so, what color?
 
Any chance the last guy was inside the engine ? It's equipped with a balancer , and needs to be timed to the crank. Out of time would sure do it.....
 
That is something i am not sure does not look like the motor has been took apart. can it just jump time or could it be the spark plug,points,or carb? thanks this is a nice tractor would realy like to get it running rite.
 
The most common cause of K engine vibration is timing being off. Check your point gap. Using Internet Explorer you can log into the Kohler engine website and download a service manual.

All Kohler K engines shake to some extent.
 
Use a timing light to get times right. You can use other methods, like test light, ohm meter but timing light is most accurate. You adjust the gap of the points to get timing where it needs to be which is the S mark on flywheel.
