Autolite 386

I would like to get an extended gap plug that is compatible with an Automate 386, what would I use?

Cannot give you the number but I where you I would find one of the NGK brand plugs that match that auto lite plug. I have found they last longer and are a whole lot better then the auto lite or champs

An Autolite 3116 with spiral suppression wires, a pertronix unit and a stock Napa coil will light any two cylinder .
If the current plugs are fouling. It's because the engine coolant is too cold and the air/fuel mixture too rich. Fouling from oil consumption can be reduced by using a straight weight 50 low ash oil rated CF-2 . Usually used in two stroke Detroits.
There is no magic plug to compensate when other parameters are out of spec.

David, how much gap do you need? You can get around .040" with those plugs. If you need more you probably will be looking at 14mm automotive plugs and adaptors. Mike

The straw man that said "I have found they last longer and are a whole lot better then the auto lite or champs"

He Never knew what a NGK plug was till a year are so ago I posted the benefits of a NGK... He could not know if they last longer are better he makes that up so it looks like he has a brain...

Glen, this may be true with some, but I am running a .054" gap on my pulling 70 with a stock distributor and cap with electronic ignition and MSD box. No problems in seven years. Mike

I use a long-reach platinum automotive plug with the adaptors. Many more choices for wide gaps in the smaller 14mm plugs. Mike

David go to a NGK spark plug. Stock number 2910 plug number AB6. Some one on here talked about them a year or two ago. I have been running NGK in my small motors and cars for years. They are a great plug for the money.

By "extended gap" do you mean you want to adjust the gap distance more (thats easy to do) orrrrrrrrrrrr have a plug with a longer deeper reach down into the combustion chamber or what????????????? I guess you realize the deeper it is down in the combustion chamber farther from the much cooler engine block increases its temperature and if do then its no longer in the same 386 heat range???

The 388 is a bit hotter plug then the 386 if that helps, but both are resistor plugs mind you

Arguing over what brand of plug is better is about like which brand of oil is best so Im NOT going there lol besides that wasnt your question
