Truck to Truck Transfer Cinci Oh

I am hoping to find someone north of Cincinnati Oh, who could transfer a skidded engine (1500#) from one trailer to another trailer. Both of the trailers are open, but one has sides, so an overhead hoist would be the easiest way to make the transfer. I would like to do the transfer this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday (12/6 or 12/7). Any suggestions would be helpful and I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee.

Email is open.

Thanks
Rich

Have you thought of a lumber yard ? They have large fork lifts and trucks with booms on them. Also might contact a building contractor that might have a cherry picker.

forklift wont work conventional if its on a skid not a pallet, as one trailer has sides, and a engine shipping skid doesnt usually have forklift holes unless its sitting on a pallet, that being said the engine should be bolted to the skid, if so any tractor with a loader that can pick up a round bale can pick the engine up too and transfer it, including a forklift if a coupe of big wide straps are used, the ones used on commercial trucks, not the little ones used for light duty

What do you mean that you can't move it with a fork if its on a skid. We hauled engines for several companies and most of the engines were bigger than that and bolted to skids or pallets and they used large fork lifts with long forks.

How much difference in height are the trailors? If close a cumalong rollers, ramp, prybar and some brute force would do the job. I have moved a lot of weight with pipe rollers. joe

The empty trailer is about 18" higher than the loaded trailer, it could be loaded with ramps and come-a-longs, but it would be a lot of work.

Try a wrecker or recovery outfit that does decking and undecking. It will cost you but if you go to their shop it should not be that bad.

agree with the wrecker service. find one that has a telescoping boom wrecker and they should be able to do the transfer. another option is see if there is a john deere or other implement dealer in the area, they may be able to do the transfer for you. the jd dealer by us will do it for a small fee. heres a pic of our wrecker transferring some wheels for another yt member. if transfering from the higher trailer to the lower trailer, a rollback tow truck will work, you could winch off to the deck of the rollback, then use the rollback winch and a snatch block to winch to the other truck. if you are going to the higher truck, a set of ramps will be needed, or crib the engine up on the rollback and slide it on the flat bed. i would do the transfer at the tow companys shop, saves mileage charges on the wreckers, and they will have more equipment handy.

i did some online searching and i found millenium towing. they do have a medium duty wrecker and seem to have a good size fleet. looks like they have a good size lot too, maybe see if they will do the transfer there for you. heres a link to their website. i have no affiliation with them
poke here

He wants to make sure that he gets a wrecker service that is insured and bonded to do job. I saw a guy at an auction of tool & die equipment have a wrecker service to load a large Bridgeport mill and dropped it and broke it. The wrecker had no insurance to cover anything like that.

old-9,

Boy howdy! I've accidentally moved some hefty weighted items using roller pipes. Dang near got away from me with the ease of movement.

Try Bishop's Truck Service. At Stony Ridge Truck Plaza, Monroe, OH. Exit 29 on I-75. If they can't do it, they'll know who can.
