Locals make the big time

This is the feed mill in Grasston which was my address until my move 3 years ago. This is 2 miles from the farm I grew up on. It's about the last of this type feed mill around, and yes they can still grind your ear corn. My wife buys our dog food and bird seed there and when we had a cow we got our feed there. My dad did buy feed there sometimes when we had the farm, but the one in Braham was still open then and they were a half mile closer. The farmers have been gathering around that table for more years than I've been around.

On The Road Again

My father used to take his oats to the mill and had them grind it into dairy cow feed. There were dozens of those mills around at the time (50's and 60's). Only feed mill left in Lowville sells pig feed, chicken feed and such. As far as I know none of it is made on the premises. The trend towards TMR pretty well doomed the old style feed mills around here.
