Personally I would have went with a f250/350 super duty with 7.3 power stroke, but each to there own. Truck is in good shape thought. Good luck with it thought.

Ohhhh man!!! Look at that beauty!

Beat me to a nice one buddy! :)

I am still saving... Can't bear the idea of doing ANYTHING on a payment, just doesn't seem safe to me. Would rather save the money and buy it with cash. Have about $5000 stowed away, and will continue earning all winter. Hope to have a nice one by next fall.

Congratulations!! That is a VERY nice truck!! Take good care of it...

P.S. I am so so so jealous.... :)

We have an 01 with the gas engine. Looks to be the same truck otherwise. I still think that is the smoothest riding pickup I have ever been in. It has 198,000 miles on it now and has been relegated to chore status but for many years before the dually came along it was worked just like a dually. That poor thing pulled lots of weight on the gooseneck and only asked for gas in return. Lots of it. Lots.

I'd still get in it and drive across the country. Watch those rocker panels. Boy are they like paper. I had the ones on this one replaced about five years ago. They will get done again this winter.

Hi Bryce.
You are to be admired for your determination, But there is a flaw with your no finance plan. I'm 41 Paid cash for all i own and ended up with no credit rating. Now might be a good chance to start one if you can or don't have one, just don't go crazy over spending on iron or other toys and loose the lot, like some of the oil guys in Canada are at the moment.
I had a heck of a time getting a $500 limit credit card even. When i talked to the bank they basically said, yes you have good accounts and never been in the Red, but we'd prefer you to bring us money we can lend to anyone else other than you. Yeah that's kinda helpful when you find an ideal machine, that can earn money $10.000 less than I can import it, and I was $10.000 short even if over due customer bills got paid the day it was buy it now on Ebay L.O.L.
Regards Robert

Good looking truck that you will love. I have an 02 with the Duramax that currently sits at 360,000 miles. Still runs as strong as when it was new and has pulled a lot of weight. You might want to check to see if the injectors have been replaced on that engine. That was an issue that GM was covering under warranty up to a certain mileage. I believe it was 200,000 but can't say for certain. I had to replace the head gasket at about 275,000 miles.
I will buy another Duramax when this one is worn out. You've got a good truck there.

I bought a used Expedition a few weeks ago and it is in very nice shape. The first chance I got I did the old farm trick. Pull to wheels and cover hoses and brakes with old cloths or towels. Take a big spray gun or orchard sprayer and hose the bottom and inner panels with motor oil. Stops rust in it's tracks! Easy and worth the effort!

Not a Cevy guy myself but I have drove my cousins duramax, I was impressed with how well it works with the trans, I just do not like the cab design or the looks, but I do think they are great trucks Congrat's

Good point, I've avoided financing for quite awhile at different times, no credit cards in years etc. When I needed it, the interest rate was up, and I paid it, paid the loan off, credit rating was great after too. I immediately financed something I've needed for a very long time, a newer tractor. Its a very low payment and good rate this time, and its just to keep some kind of credit active. It could not have been at a better time, as one loan was paid, I went for note on this tractor, so there's no gap.

I now have to diversify to further increase my score and go for other forms of credit. So I'll get a card, use it for something within the budget, just paid a different way.

One of the reasons the above is important is I have an opportunity on some valuable land, now is the time and I sure am glad I am prepared a lot more than I was, when I did everything cash.

As long as you manage your affairs and I would think it no trouble for you, its good advice, someday you may need that financing on something, good to be ready if you do.

PS: I don't care for payments either, but...... LOL !
