I bought these wagons today I gave 100 for the red wagon and 25 for the one with duals on it looks like I could haul some pretty heavy stuff on it and it's real heavy they used to use it to haul a field tile trencher on years ago

They don't sell stuff that cheap around here. Nice.

Had some wood wagon hubs that sorta rotted away here, looked just like those, I never saw them with a rim on. Think dad cut thrm up for firewood eventually, were no use to him.

looks like a good deal to me. On the red one. Someone went to a lot of trouble to cut the wood spokes, and attach them to a modern rim. I don't think you will be going 55 down the road with that trailer. Stan

I wish I could find one like that with the duals here for that price. It seems to be good for a heavy load and I need one to haul wrapped silage bales on. Only it would be better with a one axel trailer as we have a law here saying that half of the total weight must lie on braking wheels.

Nick you did well on the purchase of the two wagons. A few things to watch on these turn table wagons.

1) They do not turn as tight as the modern type wagons. If you turn too tight you can break the coupling pole.

2) When you turn with them loaded on any type of grade make sure you turn DOWN the hill. If you don't they will upset easily. Look at how the one wheel rolls forward out from under the wagon when you turn. That changes the center of gravity towards the center. So a wagon that is stable while straight will not be when turned.

You got a really good deal. I wonder what company made the one with the wooden running gear. I bet it is made out of old growth Douglas Fir. You'll never be able to find lumber that good it you happened to break something.

Looks like a good deal to me.
Somewhere on here the last couple of nights I read where a few thought you should be able to get a good gear for 200.00. I don't know where they are located but around here if it has four tires that hold air its worth at least a couple hundred.

Stan,

It was common practice in our area of Indiana back in the '40s to have horse-drawn wagons cut down like that red one. We had two or three of those.

Oh no question that red one is a cut down horse wagon. LOVE it and I want it in my living room! Use them in good health!

The wooden running gear is quite familiar to me. There used to be many in this area. Green bed, Yellow running gear. They were called "cannery wagons", from the Green Giant cannery, that used to operate near Martinsburg Pa. I remember, as a kid, pulling the hubs, and greasing the axles, on my Grandad's wagons.
