Anyone collect cast iron seats?

I acquired this one recently and was curious what it's value would be.

What might look like cracks on the outer rim is actually wire that I forgot to remove before taking the picture.

Thanks for any info.

I don't collect them, but have some from the old days when Dad farmed. I thought I would fit one to a stump so I can sit at my log splitter. All I can think is, the people must have been a lot thinner back then. My fanny was having a hard time fitting in the iron seat. I'm at 230 I am sure there must have been large people back then also. There was a saloon in Winterhaven, California that used old tractor and machinery seats for barstools. Some were cast iron, some stamped steel. Cool place. A guy named Barry Hein played classical music on the piano and was great. Spent some R&R time there. Your post made me think of it.

Wow. They look like ball busters. That knob on the front looks like it would take out the family jewels if you hit a serious bump. Did farmer's in those days have high voices?

Well, There is at least one collector in my area. He has the seat to my old horse drawn mower in his collection.

Yup, there are collectors for most everything. I've run into a man from Austin, TX who has a huge collection. He used to exhibit at hit and miss and antique tractor events, such as an annual one in Fredericksburg, Texas. He has sold to and/or traded to many other countries around the world. The man was the long-time Kubota dealer in Austin. His last name was Lanford, I believe. He was a bit old, hope he is still around. kelly

There;s a big internatinal cast iron seat collectors club.My boss where I retired from was secretary of the club.I
used to send out the newsletter sometimes. He had hundreds, some valued in the $100s.

i have bought some seats in the past, i generally figure anything with a name on it is worth around $100 or more, no name less than $100, all depending on the design and rarity
