I found a 1969 John Deere with the front bucket and rear backhoe attachments. Good shape but it needs a clutch, not sure how big of a job this is.

Well you have to split the tractor an that is much harder with the loader and backhoe attachment on it. Also make sure it is just the clutch. Some JD 440s had a reverser as an option. That can be much more expensive to repair.

Also the backhoe attachment may have the vane type of swing system on the main boom. That did not work very well. If you need to swing up a grade with a heavy bucket of material it might not swing. Forget about lifting and swinging the back of the tractor out of mud/etc. It just will not have the power to do it.

Now about the JD 440 itself. If your a collector than they can be great. If your wanting a machine to really use then they are on the smaller side horse power wise and many parts are getting hard to get for them. The parts for the loader and backhoe attachment are even harder as not many where ever made.
